  1. Gaaaah Just saw the giant baitrunner thread below this. sorry!
  2. My brother’s a pond and puddle angler, and with xmas coming up I’m thinking of getting him a new baitrunner reel- I’m not really up to speed with freshwater gear though and need some pointers please. The one person I’ve spoken to so far suggested a Shimano 8000 ATE- has/does anyone use one of these?
  3. Hi Following another frustrating blank at Hythe this weekend, I'm really looking forward to our upcoming week away up near Little Haven. I checked it out on google maps shows some interesting rocks and some promising spots.. am hoping to do some spinning and possibly to try slip on board a boat. Has anyone fished up there?
  4. While we're on the topic, what should I look for in waders (besides my legs) ? Given neoprene's apparent tendency to rot and spout leaks, what are the alternatives? Any brands I should avoid?
  5. My Daiwa Sandstorm's rings are all on the top half. Works fine..

    Boat Fishing

Thanks guys. Folkestone's easier for me- I'll give Neal a call this week and sort out a date
  7. Hi all With a few trips to the beach under the belt I reckon it's time to give it a go from a boat. I'm looking for tips on where to go, what to look for and/or reccomendations for skippers & boats you've been on personally. I'd need to rent/ borrow suitable kit (rod, rigs etc) onboard as I haven't got any boat-specific gear. I'm happy to chip in for bait if it's not included in the price. I'm based in London, but the wife's been itching to get out into the countryside so travelling along the south coast (possibly as far as Devon) and Norfolk area isn't too big a hassle. Cheers
  8. I recently bought a Daiwa Emcast 6000 and it's been absolutely ace so far. Picked it up for £53 off eBay.
  9. I'm off to Santorini in September... I might do the same Do you need any kind of licence to fish in Greece/ the islands?

    2 piece rods

Thanks guys- have been experimenting and she's now popping like a tube of pringles after a good rub of a graphite pencil and the Hargreaves move- was like playing solo twister there for a while but I got it in the end Am off to Hythe tomorrow for a bit of spinning, bouyed by my new ability to pack up my kit without fear
  11. Dang. Wish I'd read this thread earlier.. What if you have no hair though? Do armpits work?
  12. Hi all I recently hit the beach with my 2 pc Daiwa SandStorm - while the rod performed well, chucking the lead about nicely and I even landed a couple of tiddly school bass (8 inches being the largest), I had two little glitches with the rod- 1. I couldn't get the pieces to sit flush against each other- I had a gap of +- 1/4 inch and try as I might it simply wouldn't go. 2. When packing up, I struggled my **** off trying to get the rod apart, despite the gap! After 15 minutes of grunting, cursing and a red face they eventually popped apart. Is there anything I can do to make this easier, besides getting a gym membership? It's a bit of a catch 22 really- on one hand I know the rod isn't going to fly apart on casting, but at the same time I'd like to be able to pack up with giving myself a hernia to the great amusement of those sharing the beach! Cheers **must remind myself to post some pics of my little fishies**
  13. If it's any consolation I plan on treating myself to my first day's fishing out on the open water sometime in the next couple of months
