  1. does anyone use the JRC stainless steel banksticks, how are they compared to some of the higher priced SS banksticks.
  2. the one river I fish here in the US has some what clear sections and some parts are kind of muddy looking, but what I do for the muddy looking sections is try to be there at sunrise or sunset and see if I can spot any carp jumping, rolling etc.
  3. welcome to the site Tommy if allowed i would chum a couple days before you plan on fishing, if you can. I wouldn't worry about trying boilies at first, try catching them with basic baits like sweetcorn, bread etc. I think that for most waters here in the states you don't even need boilies. also take a look at the link davidP had given you for the carp anglers group, their is also a forum on their website their is also a fox carp tackle dealer here in the states www.wackerbaits.com Paul sells just about everything you need for carp fishing
  4. i got a TH cocoon 3 leg about 2 months ago, very comfy and stable, i was going to get the TH stealth but in my opinion they sit to low and you can't put anything under them, they are good if you have a umbrella type brolly for more headroom. I would go with a 3 leg, make its more stable and doesn't really add that much weight JRC TH cocoon 3
  5. i used scopex last year quite a bit and it worked very well which company do you think makes the best scopex flavour
  6. the x pod plus it just as good and cheaper
  7. JMW, try http://www.total-fishing.com
  8. i have done it with 2 hairs running off the bottom of the hook before. had the hair long enough for 6 or 7 pieces of maize on each hair,i have only tried this 2 or 3 times, the times i did use this rig the carp i caught with it were 18-19lbs.i plan on trying this some more this year, who know's maybe i'll finally catch that 30lber i been looking for on this rig
  9. Fox has a new alarm out that might be worth looking at if want an alarm with a receiver and don't want to spend the money on the rx's,it's the MMXR's.
  10. The fox micron m is a very good alarm for the price,or any of the fox alarms are good ,if you want something with a remote look at the fox rx's, best alarm on the market,in my opinion.as for rods the rangemaster rods are good, also have a look at the grey's prodigy rods, both of these rods are very popular.
  11. aanthony I use a fox evolution plus and am very satisfied with it,big enough for bedchair plus other gear. I think the fox evolution classic is very similar, I think it's not as big and cannot get a overwrap for it. you can set it high for more headroom or low to keep out wind, rain etc.Looking at the fox catalog, the stalker bivvy is the same size as my evolution plus, I believe with the stalker bivvy you have to thread the poles though,as far as length goes, my evoulution plus is a little over 6 foot when dismantled and very light, about 7 lbs and it fits down the center of my fox mega quiver, so the classic, stalker bivvy would probably be about the same cannot comment on the nash shelters as I never seen or used one, but from what I hear about them, you'll probably still need to wear a raincoat while sitting inside of them Hope this helps
  12. has anybody seen or used these rods, are they any good?
  13. has anyone tried any of the fox hooklink materials(insider, reflex etc.)and how does it compare to kryston hooklink materials?
  14. I was also looking at the free spirit rods in the tackle box catalog does anyone know if the prodigy rods are lighter than the the fox rangemaster rods in the 3lb tc
  15. pokey joe i need them for heavy leads/feeders/pva bags and some long range, thats why i was thinking about getting a 3lb or 3.5lb TC. the rods i'm using now are only 2.25lb TC and they don't handle the heavy stuff to well like method feeders and heavy leads casting long distance i fish some big lakes(1000+ acres) and some big rivers and sometimes i need to cast 100+ yards using heavy leads
