  4. Hi everyone, I suddenly love the taste of oysters, and was wondering if and how I could get myself some.... I only need a small amount and am based in Kent, where should I look and how should I collect, also, is there any chance of a pearl in english waters? Many thanks Chub
  5. Hi all, come over all ultrapreneurial lately... I was wondering if owning a fishery is profitable or not, and is there still a Market for a new fishery? If I bought a load of land in the centre of England and dug some big holes and filled em with carp, would it be worth it? Annual pay for owner, I know it depends on fishery but try to answer? Thanks
  6. I googles fishing in these areas and San Diagonal and Frisco apparently have some good piers.... Do I need some sort of liscense to fish there? Isn't it like our sea.... Free to do what u want? Could i get away with it if there r others there? Thanks
  7. Hi all, I have just booked a USA road trip, spending 3 weeks going to many amazing places. When we went to turkey I took a telescopic rod and had great success fishing from the 5* hotels wooden pier, they didn't seem to mind.... I am travelling the West coast, Califonia, and will be going through San Fransisco, Yosemite, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, LA, LV, San Diago..... So I was thinking of bringing my rod. So out of those places, where do u think I have a good chance if independently fishing.... Are there any rules? Anything to watch out for? Also what fish would I catch and does anyone have any experience in the areas??? Many Thanks Chub
  8. What about the pellett wagler, too early?
  9. Hi all, Hopefully getting out in a few days, head down to a nearby carp pool. The carp can get up 2 20lbs, and last summer caught a few largies on the surface. Do u think its time for surface agin or is it too soon. Thanks
  10. Hi, u know the closed season..... Does a canal count as somewhere u can't fish now? Its the grand union... Also are all lakes still availiable to fish now? Thanks
  11. I have been googling and it seems sandeels are quite hard to find. I was thinking of getting ragworm as these look quite the same...... Do ragworm catch the same species? Would it be ok float fished? Anyone got any tips on finding and catching one? Many Thanks
  12. Hi all, I am going to be fishing around Easter period and need a few tips as relative begginer. I would like to catch something i can use as livebait with a float, off piers or just the shore. I want to use a float as previously had no luck with anything else, and am a very good course fisherman. I was thinking of using sandeel as it seems all species like them maximising my chances of finally catching a fish from the actual sea - previous fish from harbour. The problem is how to i get sandeel. I could go for the easy option and buy it but i really like sourceing my own bait. So whats the best way to get em? Many Thanks I am fishing kent coast - herne bay and whistable area. Chub
  13. Hi all, I have all the gear to be a sea fisherman and have a holiday in Herne Bay on the kent coast. I am planning to go down their in a few weeks for easter and need lots of advice. I am a course fisherman and the only sea fish i have caught is mullets in a harbour, but it turns out u r not alloud to fish this harbour so i didnt take keep the fish or fish their again. I have tried fishing off piers - Hamilton Pier in herne bay, but i never fish for very long as i just think there r obviously no fish??? So i need to catch the easisest fish possible as i dont think i can manage anything difficult. I can be fishing off piers, the shore, and rocks, and maybe if im very lucky a speedboat with a mate. So i need loads of info on - Target fish Technique Bait (if using) Where to fish When to fish If i will finally catch a fish Many Thanks Please help me ChubFrenzy
  14. Just won 4 coconuts on a coconut shy.... Wondering if it was worth me freezing some of the inside scrapings for summer fishing? Anyone tried it? Do Coconuts need preparing for the fish? And thats all Many Thanks Chub Frenzy
  15. Usually i go float fishing throughout the year with many, non comercial baits - sweetcorn, cheese, bread, - but have recently been working on the pellet wagler back in August which was great. I plan to fish a lake called Tunnel Barn Farm - the bottom pool.... Its not very deep and has some good size carp in there. I usually go and catch a wide range of sizes ( roughly 3lbs each) with the ocasional 5 - 10 pounder. I want to catch the bigger stuff so i have bought some FRESH SQUID AND OCTOPUS boillies - i liked the name.... I was thinking of attaching a free running lead and castin out in between the islands. What you think???? Any tips on gettting bigger fish??? Many Thanks Chub Frenzy
  16. I have recently found out that there is a trout fishery just down the lane from my house and i would like to go there sometime. But frist a few questions: Equipment - what do need - I dont want to spend a fortune... Season - When to go... Tips - any handy begginer tips... Tying flies - al part of keeping the cost down - how do i get started. Many thanks Chubfrenzy
  17. Thanks for the help - much appreciated. I bought the boilies and then decided to go to a different lake and fish the pellet wagler instead - it produced well... So i have a few un opened boilie packs, how long do they keep - i couldnt see a BB date???? Also can you freeze them if they dont last very long???? If i opened a pack then wasnt going fishing for about 2 months what do i do????? Many thanks Chubfrenzy
  18. Im going fishing tomorrow and am going to buy some boilies. My question is..... Once you have bought the boilies can you use them straight from the packet??? Im going to get the Dynamite baits fresh squid and octopus ones??? Do theese need prepariing, do any bought ones need preparing??? Many thanks chubfrenzy
  19. hahahahah, great question. Some octopus that would give a great fight, maybe a giant squid - something unusual is needed..... Think unhooking a octopus may be the tough part though. Even better.... You are fly fishing/ surface fishing for carp or trout ect. You see a fish you dont reconise approach the hook. Suddenly the surface erupts and a fish hooks itself and the battle begins. The fish you have hooked is............. A FLYING FISH Imagine it!!!
  20. Some great advice, and a great motto. I agree it would be much more enjoyable to slowly beat my PB so i would probably aim for a 15 then a 17 and try to go up two pound per good fish. I still have a question though....... How can you tell the size of a fish before you even catch it????? How do i only catch the 15 pounders, not the 30's??????? I mean i know how to catch a roach then a few tench, folowed by bream and then carp, but i wouldnt know how to catch a bigger carp. I cant quite put it into words but i know tha bigger bait is bigger fish but there must be a limit, and hooks ect... Im quite confused :/ Many Thanks Chub
  21. Thats the problem..... My bigest fish was a 13 and a half pound mirror carp, which i caught float fishing in the margins on a big bit of cheese + bread. And that was in a small pool, not even 1/2 an acre wide. Tunnel barn farm if u no it..... Anyway in this new place i need the biggins, so how do i get em??????? Many Thanks Chub
  22. I want to catch a 30 pounder. I am going to be going to this place called bishops bowl lakes, in warwickshire. They have carp up to 30lbs. The lake i will be fishing is 35ft max and 12ft in margins. I have just bought a cheap 2.75lb test curve rod from Dragon Carp Direct. I have a sea fishing fixed spool reel with 20lb line on it. I have a bite alarm, and a load of bait - know someone who works for a bait company... Lucky i know. My question is, what more do i need and how would i use the stuff. I would really like some end tackle rigs/tips/ what to use. Many Thanks Chubfrenzy
  23. The point of this topic was to find out when the mackerel are goiing to arrive. There is no point going fisiing for a fish that isnt there. So no i have not caught any yet, but next thursday onwards, driving down to Herne Bay, Kent, with some feathers, and will try many different piers all around that area...... Whistable Harbour Pier, Herne Bay Pier, Hampton Pier, Maybe Broadstairs area, if there is anywhere there, Ramsgate Pier..... And anywhere else where there is a pier to fish from. The reason i chose to fish from piers is because for feathering its easier to let it sink and draw from higher than the beach. Many Thanks Chub
  24. Brave to say that Tony, if im down that way i will definatly give it ago - i dont actually live in Kent but do have a holiday house in Herne Bay. Anyway there cant be that much difference from Heren Bay to Dover. Anyway keep me posted Thanks Chub
