  1. as above you need to know whats on the bottom you also need enough weight to keep the bait where you've thrown it 6 or 8oz on a big rising river?
  2. my local rivers the ouse and tove have very small fish stocks small pockets of fish here and there so i spend many hours walking and observing with polaroids in amongst the vast spaces of nothingness there are a very small number of very very big fish, these fish are not a secret every one knows these rivers hold big fish but the leg work involved in finding them puts people off leaving me with empty banks to fish for my targets. if i was to publish what i see/catch(at times!) i would have no chance of fishing some swims or even stretches because of the glory hunters sory specimen hunters that it would attract. things must be kept secret no names of stretches, fields, swims, baits, rigs i even try to not flatten the grass and nettles so that its not obvious where i've been fishing
  3. i've had fish stitch themselves up on barbless hooks mainly when the fish pull a bit hard like tench and carp the hook turns and goes in again not good i now only use them for roach and never for barbel
  4. congrats to you both looking at the size of her hands i would say 8lb 2oz
  5. sorry guys the above comment was not serious i allways use an unhooking mat but you are a brave man allowing some of the numpties from this site to your water. not that all are numpties but there seems to be a fair few about
  6. steve i was thinking about comming would i need an unhooking mat?
  7. i'm glad i dont fish any waters you fish! if you look at somwhere like lemington lakes and compair it to somwhere like clattercote there can be no argument for not useing an unhooking mat. even for small fish like roach perch and chub. it all about respect
  8. the tove and ouse are well up and look like tea
  9. when we used to fish for cats with dead baits we would pass the hair thru and then pass the loop on the hair over the point of the hook down to the bend.
  10. Robert Scoffins, 46, of Foreman Street, Calne, had been smoking cannabis before he punched his victim three times. what are the views of AN on this do you think the fight was as a result of smoking or drinking? . They took four litres of cider, which they drank, along with 24 cans of lager #nobbers
  11. i prefer fishing in the winter myself, the winter is a special time when most fish are at there biggest and carp tend to sleep harsher the better for me thankyou! the other thing the cold puts off is the nobber! there is a good head of nobber in this country and its nice to get away from these!!
  12. hi new fish welcome how are you fishing with these baits? can you describe your rig? what depths of water are you fising in? and what fish are in the lake your fishing? i know its a lot of qustions but with the answers im sure there will be someone who can help

  14. good post thats some of the best bait i've seen for a while! better than some of the otter bait i see on here from time to time. surely your gona get a bite soon or have i just given you a bite?
  15. hi anderoo this is something i've been working on recently a bit and the best thing i've come up with is the paternoster fished with a long hook length 4 or 5 feet size 10 hook i find i still get these plucks and pulls that cant be hit but tend to sit through these and wait for the unmissable pull round often tho after 10 or 11 small plucks they have removed the bread from the hook and plucks stop so a recast is in order. i have had a play wit the bolt rig and not had much joy on the river i think that might be something to do with bread and bolt rig combo but it gave me a head ache so i gave up on it! sorry mate this post is probably no help at all but its a great subject. my non findings have come on the ouse good luck
