  1. Cheers for that I'll let him know. I think I'll stick to my rod and see how he gets on before I think about switching
  2. A friend of mine was talking about using his pole on the river and I was wondering how many people do this and the success rate with them? I normally use a feeder or trot the bait down the swim with a rod but is a pole a decent option?
  3. Would a stronger line have more chance of bulyying them out?
  4. I had my first day of pole fishing yesterday and caught plenty of fish, 7 species. But my problem was every time something big grabbed the bait within a second it was deep in the weed I was fishing next to. I tried using pressure from different angles, slowly pulsing back to try and get it out but every time it either came free or snapped. Is there any tips how to get fish back out the weed? I was using 5lbs line and size 14 elastic. Must admit I was gutted that the 3 times I seemed to get something big on I lost it in the weed.
  5. Picked up a bottle of liquid bloodworm to go fishing with tomorrow and wondered what kind of fish it will attract? Id of thought worm would bring Perch and Tench in but since its bloodworm not sure. Any ideas? is it good? Thanks for any help
  6. Thanks mate I will do, Im going on saturday and the weather looks like its gonna be ok so should have a good day. I had a quick go on a pole last time I was out and caught a couple small fish and was surprised how much fun it was. I think my OCD kicked in and I loved getting the bait exactly where I wanted it The pole only came with one top kit so Im gonna have to try and find some others that fit to keep as spares.
  7. Cheers mate glad to know it wont snap if something ok grabs it.
  8. I didnt have much money and picked one of these up the other day. My question is that it doesnt say what strength the elastic is and the shop didnt know. Does anyone have a clue? it seems quite weak but saying that I havent had any experience with pole stuff so cant really compare it against anything. Also I know its abit late but is this an OK pole for its cheap price? Thanks
  9. Some really impressive fish there and considering my biggest fish at the minute is just over 2lbs Im gonna have to give it a good go this weekend. I just bought a pole and to be honset Im more wanting to take my carp gear along instead and see if I can land a big one. Theres alot of weed so I was thinking about a 10lbs line just incase it gets its head down in the stuff.
  10. When I was out fishing last Sunday going for small fish some big carp decided it really wanted my maggots. I was using 4lbs line float fishing and something grabbed the maggots, float went down and the line snapped within a couple seconds. Set up my rod again and the same happened. The third time the carps back came out the water and with a little head shake the line was snapped again. I normally think of carp going for big baits and since the lake was being fished by alot of people Im thinking they may be avoiding the normal boilies and switching on to little stuff. Are big carp normally so eager to go for maggots? Im thinking about next time taking my carp gear and seeing if I can repeat it again with stronger equipment.
  11. Yeah looks like its another trip over tomorrow. Well my first experience with poles hasnt went well.
  12. There isnt any of the section sticking out at all. Its about 5 inches in on both sides and to be honest I bought my daughter a little pole as well and Ive just checked it and theres a big chunck of the pole smashed off. Its not even a crack theres a big bit missing up the side of one section of her pole sections. Im thinking about just taking them both back and saying I want my money back for both. I got them from Go Outdoors and this isnt the first time I bought something that didnt work/was broke and had to take it back and Im totally sick. I bought digital scales for £30, had to go back. My pole is stuck together and has a tiny crack on one part £71 and my daughters is smashed £21. I cant really use the words on here to discribe what Im feeling at that the minute.
  13. No mate its not stuck at the joint. Theres a section of the pole inside the other fully and wont come out and is fully stuck. It wont move for anything.
  14. Just got a pole today and one of the sections is stuck inside the other. Ive tried trying to use another section to push it out/tap it out but it wont move. It is completely stuck and I dont know how to get it out without breaking something. Advice please.
  15. Just wondered how many people add different flavours to their luncheon meat and what you use? I read about using curry powder to make it spicy but so far havent tried anything. Anything you can recommend?
