  1. CHESTERS1, https://research.bangor.ac.uk/portal/files/27892626/2020Crafish_plague_affects_juvenile_survival_and_adult_behaviours_of_invasive_signal_crayfish.pdf Only if you wish to read it - I DID (as well as 3 more). Not a cut and dried topic - surprised me. Published 2020 by a uni in the UK. pHONE
  2. ALL, Officially called "The Crayfish Plague" you can search either the common name or the scientific name. If you wish search the following (what I used) "Hosts and transmission of the crayfish plague pathogen Aphanomyces astaci: a review" The number of different pathogens will blow you away, but Aphanomyces astaci is the main one Phone
  3. MARTIN, For the most part home ownership is an expression of self. How you stack up against others is a major part of self worth. A man with a castle (like others) is important to who you think you are. The lout next to you could have had a lifelong negative feeling about himself. How society cares for him and those like him is as important to feeling good as having your own house. Phone
  4. BB, I too like to end my posts as you have. You can't beat "at certain times". Phone
  5. Chesters1, The inside scoop is that he tried to have war. Early on he thought every great president was a war time president. In the end he settled for civil war since he couldn't get any military support. Phone
  6. BB, As carp slowly became a "sport fish" in the US your story rings true over here also. We only have a very few private carp lakes and the 'BAN" list is as long as your arm. If you think BRITS are clueless you should make a trip - - - no, wait - - I SERIOUSLY doubt your heart could take it Phone
  7. All, I liked Trump's comment, "the new administration will get off to a great start. I left AMERICA better off than any administration in history" Phone
  8. Ken, Let me take this opportunity to say, "you were right" The slimball snake lied his way out of his second impeachment. He has completed his term" There may be more to come but I am not a happy camper Phone
  9. HUGE, ??? NOT FUNNY pHONE
  10. IN an old article on my bait thumb drive I found the following. FWIW cut and paste. The boiled nuts are utilized in the UK like a bait for carp. The nuts have to be prepared in the prescribed manner to avoid harm to the fish. The nuts are soaked in water for 24 hours after which boiled for 20 minutes or longer till completely expanded. Several anglers then leave the boiled nuts to ferment for 24-48 hours, which could boost their effectiveness. In case the nuts usually are not effectively prepared, however, they may be extremely toxic to the carp. It was originally considered to have been the main cause of death of Benson, an extremely large and incredibly famous carp. The 54-lb. fish was discovered floating dead in the fishing lake, with a bag of unprepared tiger nuts lying close by, empty, on the shore. An examination of the fish by the taxidermist determined tiger nut poisoning was not, in the end, the main cause of death. PHONE
  11. I have a curious question. DENMARK is in the EU - - is that right? Does it have to do with their latitude that the same "nightmares" as COD goes on about exist elsewhere in the EU but not in Denmark Phone
  12. Cory, I'll bite - - - who is they? Phone
  13. HUGH, At least COVID-19 makes the post sensible.
  14. PHONE EXIT STAGE LEFT beyond me for a few days or more.
  15. All, Vaccine Distribution has become both a political and actual nightmare. I saw where WISCONSIN had to dump 11,000 doses because "they didn't know it had to remain cold once they received it". I realize I am an exceptionally talented liar but it doesn't take my level of expertise to understand - - if you receive it cold, you probably should store it cold
  16. Cod, I understand CHESTERS1'S point of view. What has BREXIT changed for UK fishermen selling to the EU? As always, it's (shell) fish for cash right? IS the UK government forbidding or changed what it is that fishermen can do with their catch from UK waters? Has the EU changed their rules because of BREXIT? (I can't seem to find any reference to an EU rule change.) I watch those commercial fishing shows from the Berring Sea on TV. The price for the catch is dictated by supply and demand, not by anything else. Perhaps UK fishermen need to invest some capital in a delivery mechanism. I certainly don't see any need for the citizens of the UK to do so to accommodate foreign buyers Has the burden of providing access to the EU always been the responsibility of UK GOVERNMENT? PHONE
  17. COD, Maybe he knew some of his pals needed to pay their hay bill Phone next time
  18. COD, Well, how did we do this week at the track? Phone
  19. COD, You've been missing for a couple days. I see you didn't find any new material PHONE
  20. Democracy Defined When the wolf asks the rabbit if he would rather be eaten for lunch or supper Phone
  21. COD, Good luck with your horse tomorrow. As for the gaming discussion - sorry I brought it up. It's all GREEK to me now. A brain is a terrible thing to waste Phone
  22. TIGGER, I thought about this when you first posted your thoughts on deadbaits. Of course, I've not seen a video of you in action so I can't be sure. IMO deadbaits for your coarse fish fall in the same category as boilies for carp. It's up to the fish to get caught. The other option requires a steeper learning curve. Not sure what language term to use but is the equal of touch fishing every cast with the idea you will be timing the hookset by experience - the thin line between to early and late. This is more suited to smaller baits and probably the category you belong in. I am in this group and believe me - you DO loose the confidence level as you get older. I have always been a crappy pike and zander fisherman. Thus your bait is a matter of confidence Phone
  23. Tigger, uhhmmm - I wonder if you might COMMENT on JV's bait choice. You probably didn't see it. Phone
