  1. Rusty, Yes, (kinda) A 1/0 hook is larger still than a 1. So, it would look like this from small to large. 6,5,4,2,1, then 1/0,2/0. Phone
  2. Androo, I strongly disagree with your first statement. Inovation or invention is usually "the answer" for which there was no question but produced a desired or coveted result (often by marketing). I cannot remember the last time I thought a "consumer" knew what was best for them. For example, angling has become so non essential little is really chosen for maximum function. Phone
  3. madmax, yes. I'd be inclined to agree anytime someone suggests KISS a technique. Any species, any time. Phone
  4. Cory, Oops, an American only joke I guess. Texas used to be our largest state. According to Texans, "everything is bigger in Texas" (and better). There are a million such jokes about things being bigger and better in Texas. Texans would swear it just might be a Texas House Sparrow. Ohh yes, we have sparrows, (thx England). Actually I rather like the little boogers, especially during early winter light snow cover when they show up at my bird feeder. They are in every state (maybe not AK and HI, I don't know. But certainly in all lower 48 states.) Phone
  5. madmax, Slather cheese paste up on a bit of a miniture marshmallow straight on the hook (leave the point exposed). It will pop-up so settle it with a "bb" shot how ever far off the bottom you wish. Phone
  6. All, We too have some "sally" games. Often you'll see kids playing kick-ball in the park (they call it - maybe? soccer or girls football). I believe the WORLD Series began during that time in American history when the world ended at the Mississippi River on the West or the western coast of the Atlantic ocean. Chesters, I don't want any part of a "championship" team from Japan (just in case?). (Equipment for "baseball" is a sore subject with me nowdays. A competition "bat" is $400 and a "glove" is $300. Then if the kid watches the telly at all he/she has to have another $200 assorted [shoes, batting glove, helmet, mouth piece, proper shirt, etc.] The little ones look like miniture hockey golies when they come onto the field. Ohh for the good old days.) I'm off now, see you in 3 or 4 hrs. Phone
  7. Cory, For it to be a sparrow it would have to be along the Texas coast line. Newt's in Florida. Phone
  8. All, Also, I don't know if you've seen this one. It is an ICAST 2011 best in show product. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/VMC_Spinsho...page-VMCSS.html Phone
  9. viney, If you want to try the internet - the hooks are called "standout" hooks in the US. Also see (Google) "stacker rigs" I've never seen a lead jig head already attached? Phone
  10. All, Phone will be conspicuously absence during the evening hours (US CDT time). The world championship of all sports starts tonight. Baseball World Series - GO St. Louis Cardnials Phone
  11. Newt, Well, I've changed my mind (maybe). Leon's post is almost a dead ringer isn't it? Phone
  12. Akoo, No, more like a man size infant car seat with feet that is adjustable by the user and weighs 3 lbs. Phone
  13. All, Let me correct BUDGIES post. They ALL resent being shown how to fish. Is Sweden, on average - expensive - moderate - inexpensive as a destination compared to Europe? Visa required? Phone
  14. stewbell, Do you have a commercial marina handy? (Vagabond or someone, I don't know a translation for marina). I have a pal with a favorite spot. He hires a motor boat to take him to his "drop off". He uses the marina lighted parking area for his car (quite safe), and a cell phone or pre-arranged time for return trip. He pays $10 round trip. Phone
  15. Sportsman, Maybe I can rebound with a more sensible response. You know, when fishing for perch and "perch like" sunfish over here BB size 70% protein oily fishmeal pellets never failed me that I remember. Hook bait doesn't seem to matter if you can get them feeding. Never lure fished for these targeted species on purpose. Still??? Phone
  16. paul, I hope you savor every second. Remember, angling is only a journey. I never caught a fish when I "had" to. Phone
  17. Newt, WAG For me, it will have to be determined by what it is not. It is not in the crow, chicken turkey family. They turn their feet slightly inward when they walk in a straight line. The spacing between the prints, while there is no referrence in 2nd pic, looks to be to long for a heron. Also, I believe the heron has a curved down large toe nail which would have left more of an uneven impression. Not flat. It appears to be two birds. That too would leave out herons as, at least around here, the female is much larger than the male. Can't be any of the large sea birds, no web. You're in Florida. You have any storkes? Were there any pink feathers laying around? Might be a flamingo - I don't have a clue what their feet look like. Phone
  18. Ken L, I didn't want the "subject matter" to be personal. Anyone can site personal examples one way or the other. The preponderance of statistics (which can also be manipulated I suppose) point to the "public sector" already having a huge advantage. The question would be - are the figures I've posted for discussion misleading in any way? If so, which ones do you take execption to? I'm sorry you and the previous poster took it to a personal level. That's not for discussion with me. Phone
  19. Akoo, Space (folded) and weight (hand transportation) are always a primary issue. Cost may not be as important as you think. I'd like to see an adjustable chair that is loaded so that it "sets more upright" or comes "higher in the air" automatically when you get up. Then goes the other direction by releasing a adjustment lever or something. (Think driver's seat in a car - shock on a ratchet). Usable weight bearing between 100 and 300 lbs on a slope up to (maybe) 30 - 45 degrees (especially side slope). Probably have to be 32 inches wide (?). Easy to clean; drys quickly from rain, feet won't sink in the bankside soil, maybe have a swing up attached side table; head rest (maybe detachable); "click" attachable bed component. Durable composite that doesn't absorb heat or cold. Repairable. Edit: Initial color black and white in urban camo design. Phone Just ask
  20. Sportsman, You caught me! Phone
  21. Sportsman, Quick Google indicated the perch record from the R. Mayenne is 12 ozs. You think that is right? Phone

    Greedy Pike

All, I, for one, can't believe they didn't use an unhooking mat. That carp is probably still alive. Phone
  23. All, It's evening and I'm cleaning out old papers from the basement. Some amusing and with a "lick" of truth (maybe) that I saw in a glance. Watch the cows. If they are up and eating, go fishing. If they are down resting, you might as well stay home Sun dried spam in chilies is better than out of the tin. never to use any type of scents (Cologne, powders, perfume, etc.) Don't handle cigarettes or any type of tobacco products without washing your hands before applying baits, hooks, sinkers, new line, etc. Always freeze crickets and maggots (and keep them frozen) when fishing. They become bouyant. Tiddler (dinks) catfish are called squeekers. To catch perch hook minnows through the tip of the tail After dark perch are behind rocks, during the day in the weeds. Minnow guts are better than whole live minnows. Due to currents the North shore warms first. Fish there first if it is cool. Fish with the wind in your face. Fish when the moon is due South. Ivory soap is good bait. Always add glitter to your home made carp baits (blue’s best) Orange gummy worms are as good as lob worms Popping bugs are the most fun for pike Lastly, A fishing rod is a stick with a hook on one end and a fool on the other. Enjoy Phone
  24. Alan, Also, Toad Smith, of Franklin Alabama, one of my favorite carp fishermen, swears he caught a fish on a piece of his own heart, a blue catfish squeeker (tiddler - small fish). "When he had heart bypass surgery, Ol' Toad asked the doctor to save a piece heart that had been removed and wouldn't take no for an answer. I believe him. Maybe? You'll be the only Englishman who knows? Phone
  25. All, Read an article in my local fishwrap that kinda gives me cause to think that it's OK I don't understand Great Britian. Here it is, in part. British authorities threatened Iain Turnbull, 63, with a fine (equal to about $2,000) in August because he refused to complete the mandatory census eirlier this year. Trunbull, from Wales, was protesting that the government, intending to be progressively "inclusive", made available census puestionnaires and instructions in such languages as Urdu, Punjabi and tagalog - - - but NOT Welch (one of Britian's native languages, spoken by a half-million citizens. Odd lot you are! Phone
