  1. Everyone needs a break. if anglers want to go fishing they should buy their bait etc before the holidays
  2. My wish is that in 2011 the commercial fishery owners think more about fish care on the bank, anglers using balanced tackle on these holes and licences checked before day tickets are issued.
  3. The River Waveney was problematic this morning with great chunks of waterlilies, reeds and other bankside vegetation coming down from Geldeston. I tried to keep my lines above the weed but found it was lifting my baits out of the water. A real pest today that did not boost my confidence at all. Next time I will be moving upriver to a wider stretch.
  4. As a pro photographer the image is brilliant defo a competition winner!
  5. This was defo a motorboat, they were going so fast that the lure action was wasted they would have been better just turning off the engine and going with the tide, working the lure. Yup they did not seem that skilled in angling to do such and pulled up all my blimmin gear.
  6. Enjoying a nice 8c overcast but foggy day on my southern Broads river my peace was shattered by a pair in a boat deep trolling with a lure right into by three lines causing a right foul up. Is it legal to troll like this? the speed was c 2mph. I actually blanked but as FPO wanted to go shopping I had to pack up after 3.5 hrs.
  7. In the 1960s a water shortage in Ipswich led to Alton being chosen as the site for a new reservoir. The reservoir took about 13 years to construct and fill. The land that disappeared under the water was mostly agricultural but Alton Hall was lost, and Alton Mill was dismantled and rebuilt at the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket.
  8. I am a pro photographer and use a £200 Bridge camera along with film I make a living so I agree it is not the camera but the photographer. Yes this is a shot of a lifetime.
  9. I normally fish near to the water sports area that,s where the best catches can be made. My father has images of the place before it was a flooded area, there are farm buildings roads and old cars under there
  10. Pike, Grayling, Perch and Chub but Roach will also be my target. in Commercials this is the time to target big Roach on casters. I fish commercials irregularly but in winter they can be good light fishing venues.
  11. MY FPO is going Mad already, its a good night for watching these programmes one after the other.
  12. Best way I find is to fish a facing wind with a open ended feeder specially made for the job and a special groundbait mix with a certain bait. I walk the whole boundry the day or so before to watch for rolling fish or other signs. if i see cormorants cathing a certain fish species I know Bream will be nearby,
  13. Hi it's a North Suffolk River, yes I do fish Alton Water, some great Bream in there too
  14. Fished my local river along the town stretches only two small Pike but at least I was out there. It felt really good, nice and fresh and beautiful a few sheets of ice came through too
  15. What u need is a fuji finepix with the fixed zoom aka a bridge camera. The editing suite is called paintshop pro 12 which u can get for 50 quid online. The camera is about 249 quid. I am a professional photographer and I sell enough images to pay the bills on this kit so u wont go wrong.
  16. These are true facts, it was given up due to more club anglers wanting to fish commercial in matches. joining other clubs with easier angling and access and the fact that access was a long walk c .5 mile to get to the bank, Easier fishing was to be found elsewhere. It was nothing to do with new landowners. The river is c 20' wide and c7' deep but the fish in there are very good. These reasons are poor I know but true.
  17. For spodding I use an old boat rod and reel. all can be bought for about £20. Never stopped me catching and laying my baits out.
  18. A discussion in the pub lunchtime with other Pikers showed that recent Pike caught from our River on ledgered deadbaits just tapped the rod but no runs as usual. Even I had a 6lb fish that just tapped the rod tip not unlike a roach bite! I guess it is the cold and they are just tugging at the bait swallowing on the spot? Nobody had deep hooked fish. any ideas please?
  19. This is my last catch before the big freeze
  20. The rent was a pound a year. The reason it was let go was lazy anglers not bothered to catch "Hard" fish, in preference to commercials and not having to walk too far from their cars. One thing about Commercials is the easy fishing. I am now arranged a meeting to see the new land owners to get a syndicate together
  21. Hooray! this is also what we call the start of the Naturalists year. The Winter Heliotrope starts flowering.
  22. if u tell your superstore fishmonger u are an angler he will often give u fish they cannot sell at the end of the day cheaper. I get all my Pike baits at half the price of tackle shops
