  1. Congratulations Budgie, tremendous achievement, that's long overdue. I am the current three and a half hour match record holder with 4lb 5oz. To be fair it was only me fishing against Boddington (the cat) and he got fed up with fishing the long pole after a couple of hours and went off to chase the ducks, so I suppose I only got the record by default but I still see it as an important angling milestone.
  2. Hi Paul If you have a proper whip (rather than a pole) then it is not designed to be elasticated. A whip is usually used for catching smaller fish at speed and you just attach the pole rig to the tip and fish the rig "to hand" (not break the whip down to land the fish). You would often use a whip for catching bleak or small roach and you would use the flexibility of the whip to play anything a bit bigger, but if you after anything over about half a pound you need a proper pole. 3. James Thanks very much for the reply and good to hear that both waters fishing well. I'll give Somerset Angling a call and then decide. Regards Joe
  4. Got 11 out of 15 so my brain hasn't turned entirely to mush yet. Joe

Thanks Newt, There so much information and advice here that I'm bound to enjoy my fishing more, and hopefully catch more fish too. Joe
  6. Hi I'm heading down to the west country from Kent next week for a couple of days fishing with a mate. We want to fish for bream and my mate has suggested Chard or Durleigh reservoirs. Can anyone advise on how they are fishing at the moment ? Joe

Hi I've just joined after reading some of the subject threads for a few weeks. A great site with mountains of really good advice and information. my own fishing is a mix of coarse fishing in late spring summer and autumn, beach fishing in winter and a bit of fly fishing in spring. Regards Joe
