  1. Any one able to enlighten me on this one ?!! Was reading the Shimano Linear 2002 pamphlet and they mention it but the way this rig works is not really explained...apparently a Frank Warwick design....... "I know which i'd prefer"
  2. A topic that always comes to mind usually when their is little or no hope of a single run....BUT...What would you do if your'e on your own and playing a fish and the alarms ring out for another take !!? Interested to hear what other anglers would do !!

  5. Very heated indeed !! a balance is always needed with things of this nature...and to a degree i can sypathise with the chap who is showing initative...but always consult is the message. Unforunately like manythings within the infrastructure of the country the EA simply is not given enough support or money to be everywhere at once. on more positive note with things done that cant be undone...let hope it works out !!!!

  7. Wow some great response on the ruffe..... Have caught plenty of these on the GUC one quiet big....and in agreement they seem to hug the bottom and love the red maggots...and the mauve eye is quite strange...Leon what were you refering to when you mentioned the appearance of ruffe is used as part of the argument to ban the practice of live-baiting on some waters.

  16. Thanks Simon I asked this as surface fishing is not allowed at this pool. That sounds great and easy to do. Often the best solutions are simple and effective. By the link do you mean a paternoster style link like when ledgering dead baits ? Also is there any way of making the rig safer regarding nylon rubbing the fish during the fight ? Many thanks John

  18. I was wondering if any one can help with some advice on zig rigs.....when if fish a certain carp pool they stay within certain layers of depth during the main part of the day.I believe with a zig rig i can tempt these carp to the net. Any good advice is always wellcome. Hope all is well and fishing is good !!

  20. You should use about 8-10 lb max for mainline through to the controller float(see thru are best) then use 6-8 lb hooklength depending on how big the fish are.Usual lengths of hooklink are 3-8ft.Also you will need to get the line to float. If you attach a swivel after the controller it means if you get a break off for any reason you will still have controller to fight another cast. The main thing is stealth ...keep low and quiet. start by feeding some floating baits (dog bisuits or bread) and get them feeding confidently and if possible competing for the food. Also take note to see where the freebies are travelling on the tow of wind etc etc and realise that the bait with the controller will do the same but slightly quicker. As for casting try to hold off from going straight in as the fish will be easily spooked... instead wait for when they are less wary and cast beyond them a slowly winch the controller float back.....last but not least try to watch the bait and not the controller...if you do hook a fish try if poss to steer it away from the area...but really that is much easier said than done !! good luck !! i'm sure if you have a look through the articles section of the website there will be something there on surface fishing..and i'm sure it will be much more comprehensive !! 24. I agree some peices of tackle are outrageously pricey.....i was trying to get a boyant ledger stem and they did not have any and i was informed that they were £3.50 or something like that..... anyway i used the inside tube of a cotton bud, some powergum,2 swivels,a cork ball, a snaplink with some heatshrink tubing over it all to make one.....total cost about 18p (NB this kit comes complete with Blue Peter badge and double sided sticky tape !!!) Its amazing how prices can rocket just for the name !!
