Cod fishing in the New England area is regulated for the aveage person like this. April till November 1, fish anywhere, you can keep only ten fish any weight but they must be 24 inches in length. After Nov. 1, you must only fish for cod within 3 miles of shore and each person can only keep two fish. But the total weight of the boat's catch cannot exceed 75 pounds. It may be restrictive but we catch our quota everytime out in the past few years since it has been in effect.
