The canal was devoid of life too! Two laps of the wood after dark saw a solitary 2lber on the bank though
-
What a result!
-
Well done Paul lovely barbel!
-
Well done Chris! Any pics?
-
H?
-
Not to sound patronizing as we all know you are the Kennet master! But if you wwould like a pointer for brimpton I'd be happy to help
-
Out of interest where are you fishing for them Chris?
-
Took a walk up colthrop the other day and I know what you mean! Have all the pegs been cut out at brimpton yet? So far its only been pegs that people have flattened out themselves as the lakes are taking priority
-
Good to hear of a barbel coming from there again!
-
Fished the same venue twice in the last week with the same result, even this early in the year surface fishing seems to be the way to get a few carp from there
-
Well done for braving it and even bigger well done for catching!
-
Was very tired and the two pictures merged into one and I thought it was a huge chub (compared it to the size of the pike and his body) then looked again and saw it was two pictures and changed my comment
-
Edited to remove tired stupidity, just realised that the chub and pike pictures are two pictures not one
-
2lb9 is a very nice perch! Don't suppose you got a picture? Will reply to your PM once I've heard back from the boss
-
I know exactly what you mean about that lake, have done a fair few nights down there by myself, gets pretty eery down there once the sun goes down! Good effort to have a couple of fish out in daylight, only ever caught at night apart from a tench at first light
-
Well done on two counts Chris, one for braving the weather and sticking it out! And two for the cracking perch, you must be chuffed!
-
Just out of interest were you on an NAA or TAA stretch? Even Hambridge still hasn't thrown up a barbel for me this year
-
Well done Chris cracking barbel! I've still yet to land a single one this season
-
They must follow me then, all I seem to catch when fishing maggot! I'm pretty sure we would have been fishing the same bit too Rusty (the one we discussed the other day) no matter if I fished nearside, farside or straight down the middle the minnows were there!
-
Do you manage to avoid the minnows Chris or just not include them? I caught around 10 minnows to every other fish yesterday evening at Brimpton
-
I've caught countless trout on that section with hair rigged pellets and boilies while fishing for barbel, (that's my 4th this season from there!)all are lip hooked and pretty much hang themselves
-
Great results mate, never had any luck on that lake but would love to catch one of those tench on the float!
-
I use drennan red maggot hooks for most if not all of my trotting and have never had an issue with trout and chub to 3-4lb, although never until then hooked a decent barbel trotting. I will be changing my hook pattern for when there is a possibility of hooking one now though. Thanks for the advice!
I was half expecting a jibe about being a 'lesser off the top' angler causing me to lose it -
2lb+ perch is a great result given the conditions, well done John!
