  1. It was those which I meant as weighmaster don't seem to exist any longer. They do look nice and compact.
  2. I think they look ok n'all Budgie. I think they go up in 1 ounce increments and I think one of the sets goes up to 40lb. I do have the rhuben heaton scales (very small suasage shape) and they only cost about 5 or 6 squid. Only snag is they only go up in 4 ounce increments in the sets going up to 15lb.
  3. Rusty don't forget you can just as easy change your trotting set up to laying on. Just remove all your shot barr one BB 6 inches above your hook, wrap a small peice of line round your mainline above the BB and pinch on a swan shot or two (enough to hold bottom) so it will slide up your line, and slide your float up your line until it lays flat (not cocking), maybe double the depth of your swim depending on the flow. Your fishing with a bow of line from your float to your weight stopping the flow to move your bait. You need to keep your rod tip pointing towards your float and try to keep your line off the water. It's a nice way to chill out as you can put your rod in a rest and sit down and just wait till the float fires off !
  4. I use that technique hooking on the boilie or pellet on like that for rubber lip's (a band works the same) .
  5. Shorter Rusty(say 6 to 10 inches of line tied 15 to 20 inches above your hook). You can tie a link by using a water knot or use a swivel and tie your link to the top eye of the swivel. You can play about with the length of link. Why not try laying on. it's a brilliant way of ledgering and you watch your float instead of the rod tip, and it's ultra senstitive. I forgot to say, on your ledger link you can use some shot pinched on the line, a bomb or even a feeder.
  6. Well done Mr plump.....I've no doubt you'll get your 4lber shortly
  7. That would depend on how slow. In slow water just the movement of a bait dragging over the bottom can induce a take. Laying on is also a great way to fish for chub.
  8. That's pretty much as I would do , but I'd maybe spend less than 45 mins in one swim without catching due to me being impatient
  9. A 30lb pike would be nice, then the 4lb perch a week or so later.
  10. I'm a fan of the gte Aero 5000 and the 8000 but I also like my 5010' s , 8010's etc.
  11. Hang on Brian I only had your arm twisted up your back....hows that forcing LOL. I just hope it does actually get you that 2lb plus redfin m8
  12. Bloody hell, how long have we waited up to now TT ?
  13. I thought the handles where quite smart. Thery look like timber of some kind. Your right TT it does have a look of a lythe.....a bit better even !
  14. I had a couple of blanks at the spot we went to then, third time lucky got a 3lb+ chub and a small trout of all things. I had another go Saturday just gone and got three chub all around 2 1/2 lb. Went down the severn last week and appart from a very large pike that took a likeing to my cheese paste which after 4 to 5 mins it grated the line and parted company nothing was up for it. All in all pretty fishless Brian....and horribly cold !
  15. It's a Witcher copy. Quite a sought after reel and the last one on ebay went for £900, I think chris Plumb has one.
  16. I use a kamasan animal hook or a drennan super spade. In the size 14's I cram 10 maggots on and have no prob's whatsoever with hook up........just make sure you strike like a panther ! Never had either straighten or cause me to loose a fish.
  17. Some of my other float rods (which I like nearly as much as the normarks) are the drennan im8 and im9 range.
  18. I agree that a high price doesn't always get you the best or anywhere near it but in the case of the normark float rods I think it does. I like them anyway so they'll do for me
  19. Well 10/15 yrs back they where £399 so not exactly budget.
  20. I'm another one of the Normark gang, cut above the rest Hey Brian, have you wet a line recently ?
  21. For sticklebacks you don't need a hook. If you just tie a worm onto a length of cotton and watch the fish latch onto it, wait till it gets one end into it's mouth then just lift it out. I used to do it all the time when I was a kid.
  22. I wouldn't go prising at the badge either but I've been told that's the way to get to the bearings. I think you get to the Arnold kingpin the same way as I think there made exactly the same(without a pin and locking nut on the backplate). Maybe it would be worth you asking Gary mills if he knows how you get to the bearings ?
  23. What about this one then.....better colour than your's http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/The-Barbel-Catcher-c...=item27af944efa Rusty, did you ever find out how to change the bearings in your swallow? I think you go behind the centre badge on the front of the spool ( I been told that's how but I'm not sure)).
  24. I hope there's room for us Lancastrians again
