This is a really good article. Reading it gave me shivers down my spine. I agree with Martin. The author could have been more prepared. He is really a lucky guy surviving the whole thing. He has a third chance at life. Hopefully he will use it well.

This article hit the nail right on the head. Thanks a lot Nolan. Yakity, great points that you made there especially the speed and wet points. I get a lot of people that is asking about buying a kayak that will allow them not to get wet. I can't believe that there are still people out there that wants to do water sports or water recreation and don't want to get wet. If you don't want to get wet, stay out and off the water. Period. You won't buy a saucy hamburger if you are not prepared to get the sauce on your shirt or pants.

Not bad at all. At least you guys caught some fish, even though it is literally a few. A few friends of mine had some bad luck days when they came back with about 2 fish between the three of them. They were not happy at all. They quickly had a few beers to get away the dissatisfaction of the day's catch and it worked. A few weeks later they tried the same spot and had a better catch. Sometimes you wine, sometimes you lose.

Hi alistair I want to help you find the right kayak, but can't think of one. What I can recommend is to do a bit research on the net. With the vast database of knowledge, reviews and products you are sure to find the perfect kayak at a very low price. Do some research and find about 5 different kayaks that you want to try out. Take the list to your nearest kayak or water outfitter shop or kayak rental company and try these 5 kayaks out. Paddle a few minutes with each and try them out. After you found one or two that you like, search the internet or visit a water outfitter shop, again and compare prices between the 2 or 3 kayaks that you like. This way you will be able to buy a kayak that is best for you. Just remember to keep in mind all the extra's that you can get buy extra with your kayak e.g. RodPods, to keep your rods in place, paddle straps etc. etc. Hope you will find the perfect kayak soon. Hi guys Chris here for South Africa. I would like to give a shout out to everyone in the forum. If there is any South African's here, I would appreciate a reply. South Africa has got a lot of rivers and lakes, or dams as we call them, where the vast majority of South Africans enjoy their fishing. With rivers like the Vaal, Breede and Orangeriver, and not to mention our beautiful coastline a fisherman will never get board. I hope that I can give some sort of help with my posts in here.
