  7. hi all i am looking at buying a new feeder rod and reel but need help to be pointed in the right direction. i will be using it on canals and some commercals. i want one with a reel that would compliment the rod and that is smooth i don't know much about feeder rods and reels so any help with what to look out for when buy would be helpful. thanks
  8. thanks for the advise atm i only have a method feeder that you get free with a mag... be a better angler. think it either 10g or 24g not sure, so this would be to light for the rod i have? i will get heavier method feeders and open end and block feeders. i been looking at other feeder rods i could get and came across the shakespear omni x feeder rod.. it £15.99 which is good hahaha but going have loook around tackle shops like you said to get a feel of them etc. but i looked with my friend couple weeks back and they only had one feeder rod and came with 3 quiver tips and was £50 forgot what the make of it was again thou so ill have another look soon. what should i be looking for when look for feeder rod and reels?
  9. thanks for quick reply. i realise it abit heavy duty and bites wont be that sensitive and hard to know if line bite or a take but it got given it and fought would be good to start off with. i will be investing in a new feeder rod soon so if you have any ideas of good rods to use for feeder fishing that would help thanks
  10. hi i got given a dragon pike doctor spin 12ft deadbait/powerspin rod yesterday i've googled it up but not found the rod was hopin if anyone has it or knows about it and would be able to tell me if it would be a good rod for feeder fishing using the method feeder. it has a 3lb test curve thanks
  11. sounds good but one question as i fairly new how do you get the bread grounded down to put it into groundbait? as i would like to start makin own groundbait
  12. today i decided to use a method feeder for the first time as i got it free with a magazine. i set it up on my waggler rod (not got feeder rod) i used 6lb line and a 3lb hookline. i used groundbait around the method feeder and 3 maggets on the hook. i got down to my local canal about half 6am and after 15/20mins i had a bite on my method feeder! after a small fight from the fish i picked up my new PB bream 3lb! i couldnt cast it in the same spot everytime as i used the line clip and cast over head at marker but everytime ended in different place :s?? maybe if kept going same place woulda had better day but also got a 1 n half/2lb tench which suprisly put up more of a fight then my PB (4lb+ tench) caught a few little skimmers and roach after. all in all i had a very good days fishing. next thing to do is get more tackle and start going lakes to use the method feeder and hopefully beat my PB again i got given a rod and reel for free its called...doctor spin 12ft deadbait/powerspin rod and reel as i trying get into feeder fishing and my girlfriends mum boyfriend getting rid of his stuff and he said that it would be able to handle big loads of bait with the feeder with no problem, just wanted to know if anyone has heard/ have this rod and what its like? thanks
