  1. have a look at this site dean, its a sea angling site but it has a lot of usefull knots for all anglers. http://www.marinews.com/pages.php
  2. i'm with chip and singy on this one too, and use a cool box. works a treat
  3. what shelter have you bought from badger chip? the X2 CYBER SPECIAL DOME looks OK. i would be pleased to hear if anyone has bought/used/seen one. see it here:- http://www.badgerclassics.com/Merchant2/me...Category_Code=5
  4. i have a badger net and it is OK,,,,,,not great but it does the job and for £25 or something you cant realy moan can you. but i aggree with Rudd now is not a good time to be buying a new net, although if you have too the badger net is certainly cheaper than most. ps. last year i bought a NASH bait mate and it had a fault from new. i bought a FOX stove bag, same story. i bought 2 x tackle bags and a bed chair bag from BADGER and they are all perfect and quality stuff, whatever you think of BADGER there lugage is superb.........
  5. yeah, i had concidered that poledark (grin) but i picture a situation where a dozen or so crays are feeding and as a group of carp move in the crayfish all scurry away and hide leaving only one sickly looking prawn (my hookbait) job done!!!!!!!!!!
  6. i would like to use a groundbait to attract crayfish with the intention of fishing a tiger prawn over the top as an imitation crayfish, i have searched for info on crayfish diet without much sucsess, i have been told to try some rotted garden compost.................... any thoughts?
  7. quote: I find it's no use just tying the mesh up, you need to actually sew it up, going through the material. just read this thread and although i have only had to use meshed baits on one occation i found the easiest way was to use a synthetic net material and after tieing and trimming off the excess net just touch the knot with a lit lighter and the net will melt, bonding itself together as in newts carp society link (very neat). also i found that as the boilie absorbed a small amount of lake water it swelled just enough to cover the mesh making it almost un-noticable
  8. sorry to be a nuisance, but if you are not sure what i am on about, take a look at the pic i have posted. pic here http://www.thecarphunter.com/images/pmarker.gif image of permanent marker 17.6KB
  9. alternativly, as you have seen other anglers using them on this water. just row round and look under the water in likely looking spots and you'll probably find one or two!!! (GRIN)
  10. Eddie was dead right. buy 2 lennths of plastic electrical conduit, they need to be diferent diamiters, so one slides in and out of the other. then tie/glue/cement/stick a large weight on one end of the thickest pole.(those bricks with the holes in work well,although 2 or 3 pounds of lead is best) make sure that the poles are short enough to be hiden under the water when not in use, and all you do is row it out and slide the thin pole out till it is out of the water and visible. when you leave the water, slide it down inside the larger pole and no one will know its there, but the fish will grow accustomed to it, then when you return, row out and slide it up again. if a hooked fish runs round it , it just leans over and your line will run over it, then it springs back up again. some dutch anglers attach led's to the poles so you can see em at night. clever huh?
  11. I agree with Dunks reply and have been fishing Longford Lake all season landing 5 carp to 23lb. Lost a few between june and september due to the snags and weed. Top rod last year took 14 carp to 29lb since last easter. The 29lb'er being the biggest REPORTED. Longford Lake 1.1 mile long, 70ish acres, depths up to 90 feet!! Everyone i talk to that knows Longford says they have seen HUGE carp although i have yet to meet anyone who has caught one!! But then you never know, eh! All the fish i have seen have been in perfect condition, all 4 barbels, no split fins etc. Longford fish do not show themselves very often, i have fished 2 or 3 nights every week this season and have only seen 4 fish lunk, two of which i caught within minutes, so as Dunk said, find the fish and you will catch. Will email U my mobile # if you want more info or a guest ticket just call me. Sid
  12. SunGas make a Parabolic Heater that screws onto a standard gas bottle, last Saturday night it was 40ºF I fired up the heater and placed it in the porch of my Chub bivvy with the door zipped down on one side and velcro'd down on the other and 20 minutes later It was 50ºF (Combats and T-shirt time!!) Pukka!! Available from all good camping shops for £17.99 WARNING..........DO NOT FALL ASLEEP WITH ONE OF THESE ON OR LEAVE IT UNATTENDED. (could be dangerous) quote: 24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case, coincidence?
  13. I used some as a groundbait additive and as a boilie dip on a afternoon trip to Furnace Lake, had 4 carp to 13lb from the big lake. This was my first carp fishing trip after a 12 year break so as a born again "noddy" I was well pleased. I am now fishing a very hard water where the bream just love tigger nuts!! so i've stopped useing it now. A certain company sells this product through the tackle shops, sticking there own label on the miam bottle and doubling the price. Nice one!
  14. Thanx for the input guys, but we already have compressors, guns and tables. We are looking to release a range of baits early next year and are looking for an automated solution. We have had a test batch rolled by Mr. Richardson which have come out fine but at (how much!) per Kilo is going to make the bait more expensive than we would like, so if the bait takes off we want to invest an our own machines. At present we have tracked down a pharmacutrical machine that will roll 100 Kilos an hour, but we would still like to know what else is available. Once again though, thanx for the input.   15. Does any one know what machines are used in the manufacturing of boilies? I have searched the internet for information and have almost drawn a blank. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers,,,,,,,,Sid Email: sid@thecarphunter.com "24 hours in a day...24 beers in a case...coincidence?" {Admin note 2009: for boilie rolling equipment for sale, please click here}
