  1. A clipped rig is for long distant casting, unless you can cast 150 yards not much piont , flapper rig is an unclipped rig normaly carrying two or three hooks for smaller fish ie Whiting Flounders Eels a single hook flapper is used to target larger fish with a bigger bait ie Bass or Codling .Never heard of a wynd clip but I,m guessing it is a bait clip
  2. Sorry George for being vague but should of asked both questions at the same time. Won,t use braid on a fixed spool for ledgering after it cost me some big fish a painful lesson but have used it on a pin for ledgering with a fibre glass rod which would bend from tip to butt. Makes me smile when they go on about the new Anti Lock rods when they have been around for donkeys years and where called Fibre Glass Rods . Bought a spool of Berkley Fireline 0.12mm is this a suitable for float fishing on the pin it,s not the crystal version .
  3. Tried Ultima Flo Cast last year thought it was the dogs danglies until caught a couple of fish on it and it started to delaminate so ended up being binned. Have thought about loading my centre pin with braid but thought it would be to severe , playing a large mullet under the rod tip on braid not sure if thats a good idea no give ,but it ticks all the other boxes . Has anyone had experience of playing say large Chub or Barbel close in on braid ? George you did not say the price of the floats ?
  4. Made that choice years ago I fish for Mullet okay not a Coarse fish but I use Coarse fishing tackle to catch them pound for pound, the hardest fighting fish in sea or freshwater. Bait , there is only one and that,s bread so nice and simple caught them on a variety of ways so far this year including Ledgering Trotting Strettpegging Laying on surface fishing, my favourite Freelining
  5. Down to my last Ivan Marks 7 AA Balsa trotter, had a look at your floats George those fluted Balsa on cane or the Cork Chubbers look the part, how much shot do they take ? Must hold my hands up, this is my first season of float fishing with a pin normaly ledger also fish in the Sea for Mullet so probaly do things differently to you more experinced river anglers. So one of my main tatics this year has neen using homemade insert Peacock wagglers fished top and bottom and holding back, I trot my float to a pontoon or old pier and hold back so bait is underneath if no bites are forthcoming reel back my float and start again will hold back for up too 5 minuets normaly fishing at 3/4 depth as Mullet seem to prefer to feed up in the water. I am probaly doing every thing wrong
  6. Personaly never use anything less than 6AA , prefer Balsa trotters to wire Avons like the fish to have something to pull against. Down to my last Balsa trotter does any one knows where I can get my hands on some more ? Use Peacock wagglers a fair bit too as these carry a lot of shot
  7. Hi Have a Airel copy that has wobble, it spins true ie does not foul the backplate or rub anywhere but when you look side on when it turning slowly part of the spool is higher than the backplate bit like a buckled wheel. Is there any way of truing the spool up ? do you think the spool has been possibly drop at some time ? Got it of E bay now feeling slightly had
  8. Caught my first fish using this method after a few unsucessful trys, was fishing in about 8ft of water fishing my float 3ft overdepth with a wire avon float had an swan shot on the deck with the rest of the shot 3 ft up the line the float was a swanshot overshotted with wind in one direction and flow in another I was on a landingstage so was fishing parallel to my float, bites were unmissable sailways chuffed to catch fish on the float in difficult conditions
  9. What was the difference bettween a Rotator and the Revolver, hope they were sprayed the same puce colour. £200 is my cut off for any pice of tackle .
  10. Forgot to mention there is a glut of second hand Youngs on Ebay at the moment , so now probaly not the best time to put it up for sale
  11. Not only is it on the T V it is front page news, how can that be ? Simon Cowell looks more like Herman Munster every time I see him. Goes to the same shop as Wallace to get his trousers
  12. Catch and release was not the death kneel for Coarse fishing as far as I know, and certain Coarse fish were originaly bred for the table .Christchurch Harbour does not work for me because of the barrage of nets fish have to swim though at the entrance to Chritchurch Harbour and when They leave pray to anyone with a net. But in a Ideal world would you rather catch 10 Bass and return them or one now and again. What I,m really asking is it sport or the pot ?
  13. £150 to £200 depending on condition seen them go for less £120 put a reserve on it , you must have idea of what you think it is worth
  14. Thought this why there a Wales and Scotland somewhere for the British to site there nuclear power stations. We had all there Gas Coal and Oil .
