  1. Three spacious houses located on the shore of Lough Derg, two miles outside Whitegate village, in one of the best fishing locations on this lake. Each house has a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, oven, fridge freezer etc. These self catering houses sleep 6 and two of the three bedrooms are en suite. There is also a large living room with a wood burning stove. The Lodge is an older house on an elevated site with beautiful lake views. This house had three bedrooms and two separate bathrooms. These properties have an extensive garden that runs down to the lakeshore where there is a 6 berth pier for easy access to the lake for fishing. The houses are also ideally located for visiting the many wonderful attractions in Co Clare and Co. Galway, The Burren, The Ailwee Caves and The Cliffs of Moher. Fishing Location: For any visiting angler, boat fishing is the best way to tackle this water. The area around our houses consists of relatively shallow water between 8-10 feet. Pike can be caught through out the year. Any of the large bays north and south of the cottages will hold Pike and the key is to keep mobile and search out the large bays to locate fish. The size of fish ranges from just a couple of pounds through to double figures. It is realistic to catch a twenty pounder during a weeks visit. The key difference between Lough Derg and waters in the UK for example is the power of the pike. There are also a number of swims close to the shore outside out houses and we have cleared away some shore line to make fishing easier. There are a number of local fishing guides available in this area. We have a number of 19ft Anglers Fancy lake boats for hire and a pier at the end of the garden. Each house also has a large tackle storage shed and a bait fridge. Contact lorrainetully@eircom.net or visit www.loughdergholidayhouses.com for more details.
