  1. Good Advice i use a very similar setup my self the only difference is that i put a piece of shrink tube & a free running 8mm rubber bead about 6 feet from the swivel so when the carp runs this helps set the hook its safe due to the fact if a break occurs any lead etc can slide off the line. i caught 53 fish in 1 week using this method this year in france

  13. I would imagine that if its a decent fishery they would have a SIRET number this might be a way for the french fish police to let the more dubious operators know that they are cracking down on them to make them register for there SIRET or face prosecution. i know that the place i'm off to has there SIRET number so i have no concerns
  14. not British super drought it might be an ENGLISH water shortage up here in Gods Country we get plenty of rain so wee won't have a problem
  15. use arma mesh to deter the crayfish take plenty of water for a brew snore very loudly this keeps the rats out of the bivvy at night store all your food and bait either in plastic containers or in your car this also deters any rats take a bottle of antiseptic hand gel change you socks for a clean dry pair just before you turn in for the night that way your feet are warm so you will have a decent night kip unless you get a run ware a woolly/fleece hat when your sleeping helps retain you body temp keep your head torch camera etc near you in the bivvy make sure that you unhooking mat /landing net scales weigh sling are kept near your rods in-case you get a fish make sure to kick your mate into life if one of you has a run . hope this lot helps I'm sure others on the forum will add more .

  18. ideally what is required for a winter day session is a small compact stove like mine or similar 1 x small kettle trakker 1 x 12cm single egg frying pan 1 or 2 rolls 1X small tub butter 1x small bottle brown sauce /tomato ketchup 1 x square sausage 1x egg 1 knife some tea bags & or coffee small 1/3 pint bottle milk 1 litre water and the job's done
  19. got me a little stove from go outdoors (Hi Gear Inferno) £15.00 i have been using it for over a year now no problems, i use mixed gas canisters propane/butane. it works equally well in the colder months when folded away in it's little orange storage box, it is about the size of a computer mouse ideal if you dont have a lot of space, it uses the 714 thread type of cartridge sizes vary from 150 gram to 750 gram hope this helps you cheers pete
  20. not fished it for a while but try and get peg 15 its one of the better pegs ask in the shop as what bait is doing well they are very helpful try one on the bottom as close to the island as possible and one chod rig mid channel, for the chod use a 1 oz lead and the bottom rig 1.25 oz for the chod either xlr8 or if you can get brilliant baits pop up peperami/bloodworm /cranberry mix ,there very good especially in the colder weather good luck btw there are some nice cats in the mill pond. cheers Pete
  21. The Pope was cruising along the beach in the Pope-mobile when there was a frantic commotion just off-shore. A helpless man, wearing an English rugby jersey, was struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 25 foot shark. As the Pope watched in horror, a speedboat pulled up with three men wearing Welsh, Irish and Scottish rugby jerseys. One quickly fired a harpoon into the shark's side while the other two reached out and pulled the hapless English fan from the water. Then, using long clubs, the three beat the shark to death and hauled it into the boat. Immediately the Pope shouted and summoned them to him. "I give you my blessing for your brave actions. I heard that there were some bitter hatred between the Celts and England rugby fans, but now I have seen with my own eyes that this is not true." As the Pope drove off, the harpooner asked his buddies: "Who was that?" "It was the Pope," one replied. "He is in direct contact with God and has access to all of God's wisdom." "Well" the harpooner said, "he may have access to God and his wisdom, but he doesn't know anything about shark fishing. Is the bait holding up OK or do we need to get another one?"
  22. on 3 separate occasions i saw what may have been ghosts ! 1st was a year after my dad died i went to drop off my mums Christmas present , i opened the front door the air suddenly turned very chilly i thought i saw my dad walking down the stairs i dont know why i wasn't thinking of him at the time or nowt like that , i took to my heels again i dont know why. the 2ND time was when i was wild fowling up at the Eden estuary at st Andrews me and my mate Gary were waiting for the geese to take flight , i saw a bloke dressed in what could only be described as ww2 air force grate coat carrying an old 10 bore hammer shotgun he also had on flight boots the kind that would be worn by bomber crew of that era he walked by me gave me a nod then was gone ,Gary asked me later if i had seen him ,i said i had he told me that he just walked off in to the bay , it was full tide Gary said about 5 minuets later he saw him on the RAF base side of the bay totally impossible at low tide let alone high tide. we got talking to the local wild life warden about this bloke he told us about a bloke who drowned just after the war ,his ghost was seen on several occasions since then usually before a storm . 3rd time i was working up at arrochar in the forest above loch long there is an old stone house ruin one morning about 7 am daylight bright sun my self ans 6 other blokes saw a gorgeous blonde dressed in what could only be described as a long gray dress she seemed to walk right through the excavator sitting less than 50 feet away from us then she just disappeared very strange ,that's why i am very open minded about these kind of occurrences
