  1. Red maggot is a popular hookbait for tench, the theory being that it resembles their natural food, bloodworm (all beit particularly obese bloodworm!) With this in mind, I always use red baits and ground baits when fishing for tench. Red, cloudy, sweet ground baits laced with castors and hempseed work a treat with double red maggots on the hook. I often dye sweetcorn crimson red and flavour it with something sweet like vanilla or strawberry. Recently I've been using 'Cats and Dogs -strawberry flavoured hookable pellets' with some considerable success. Last month, after an almost bitless day fishing castor and maggotts on a small weedy river I switched to these pellets (they look a bit like mini boilies) and hooked a 5lb tench with minutes. Tight lines.
  2. Remeber the sit-com from the mid eighties that was based around a midlands angling club? Anyone have any clues where I might be able get hold of it on video? I've etried all the convenional routes but it seems all records of the show have vanished without trace. My only hope is that someone might have it (or even the odd episode) on an old VHS tape at the back of the cupboard somwhere. A long shot I know, but I havn't lost hope yet. Cheers, Andy. andylockley@tiscali.co.uk
  3. I fished Penns Hall Lake for the first time in years about six months ago. There are definatlty other spieces in there, but in what abundance I'm not sure. I had a couple of decent bream and a few small roach. The lads at Fosters said the water contained some nice tench. Give them a call, I'm sure they'll be happy to advise you on the best spots to try.
  4. Got any unwanted old porcupine quill floats cluttering up your tackle box? Or any other characterful old fachioned quill floats? Any condition considered.
  5. Thanks for all the advice fellas! Can't say I'm any the wiser as to which reel to buy, but judging from the enthusiastic responce, I'm convinced that a centrepin is a worthwile addition to my tackle bag. Tight Lines.
  6. I'm thinking of investing in a centrepin reel. Can anyone reccomend a good general purpose centrepin for trotting, legering etc.? I've been looking at 'Youngs Trudex', anyone used one? Andy.
  7. Anyone got a copy of either title that they would like to sell? Condition unimportant providing all the pages are intact. Cheers, Andy. andylockley@tiscali.co.uk
  8. Cheers for this info fellas! Tight Lines!, Andy
  9. Can anyone help me in my quest to track down a copy of the double video box set of the BBC series 'A Passion for Angling' starring Chris Yates? I've tried the online video retailers without succsess as the vide has now been deleted. Any suggestions ? Maybe somebody has a copy, or knows someone with a copy, that they would like to sell me. Forever hopeful, andy lockley@tiscali.co.uk
