    Maple peas

I have used Maple peas quite a lot in the past and caught a lot of fish on them not all big I will admit, I used to use a little hemp also, but fished them in PVA bags. I did find that by pre-baiting with them if allowed on your water is a big advantage especially if you can get to the water regular as they seem to be not used that offend these days well not on the waters i fish. I did find that by putting al ot of hemp in had two effects either the fish would shy off it if a pressured water or they preoccupied on it so would say use only a little. hence why I prebaied with them and started using pva friendly hemp in the bags. I used to fish single peas or double on a small hook. worked for me! http://www.lurepro.co.uk
  3. yes got to be lures keeps me active and thinking all the time! and you can't beat a quick session with a lure rod!
  4. I have always Lure Fished a night, due to my previous job and had always been successful with surface lures at night more so a hour or two after dusk in winter than in the middle of the night as I found where I fished the pike were more active at this time than throughout the day. But didn't fish much past 8pm in winter as found that the hits would slow down although used to get the odd hit. Found summer throughout the night to be much more productive and on moonlit nights using dark coloure d lures like black, purple and blues. also prefered to have a lure that made a good wake like Heddon Crazy Crawler, Abogast gitterbut or a rapala skitter pop. But as a previous post said don't strike until you feel the fish as they have a go and miss it more that they hit it which is really fraustrating but really exciting too. 5. Lure fishing for pike is a great way to start, I would advise getting decent unhooking tools, short and long handled Pliers and side cutters are a must also a glove if your inexperience these are a great confidence booster when handling fish and will save many nicks and cuts which can ruin a days fishing. Stay light and mobile where possible, also I think a someone here mentioned a rubberised landing net this are great and relatively cheap but a excellent investment will save hours unhooking trebles from the net mesh and a few landing nets!. http://www.lurepro.co.uk
