  1. Thanks John I've found a few recipes for things online which i might dabble with and i'll certainly take a look at AT also Richard
  2. I've just checked the 9 stores in my area and not a one. good job i have enough for now but like said before you can never have to much stuff and it would have been a bargain. Richard
  3. I don't fish rivers much or get the chance to walk along them but i think there are alot less people fishing the rivers these days which could be one of the reasons. I also don't think you get as many kids fishing rivers like i used to as a kid. I learnt to fish on a river and lost alot of tackle in trees. You are also right in saying the tackle is of better quality in some cases but i'm sure you'll find some that swear by the 20+ year old rod and reel. Richard
  4. Also are there any ingredients you would recommend and any you would stay away from. I would like to use stuff i have around the house rather than mixing the ready to use groundbaits and things from tackle shops Thanks for any info Richard
  5. Hi peeps I was wondering how you test your new bait concoctions to see if they work or not. Please don't reply with the obvious "you fish with it" I was wondering if there are any other things you take into consideration. some things came to mind and don't know if they apply or not but i don't get to go fishing loads like some so it might just be a bad day regardless of bait used. 1: fish a water with plenty of fish in it. 2: fish a regular bait with exact same setup to compare against. 3:ok i've only got 2 look forward to some replies i hope Richard
  6. Thanks to all for there advice i'vre also been given this link which i have not tested over a period of time but looks intresting Just put in your postcode then select hobbies from the top of the screen then select fishing and it gives you a catchabilty reading on some algarithum or something looks good but don't know if it works http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/HOBBIES/fishing.asp Richard
  7. I'm no expert myself but the advice i have been given is a magazine called improve your course fishing it's in most good newagents and not a bad price compared to some of those computer magizines out there. the imatation stuff is not for my and there will always be a debate about weather or not it is better or worse than the real thing. on the subject of baits i use the same as you but also sweetcorn from the can and caned meat. there is also the hair rig which you will be able to read about on a lot of sites if you do a search in a search engine another carp invention i think but used for alot of the bigger speices. thats all for now Richard
  8. I've fished for many years but do not class my self as an angler as i do not read the books learn the habits of fish or study the venues i just like the peice and quite of being by the water. I've obviously picked up most of the basics (fish health and saftey ect) but to my question as a long term novice. How does the rain effect fishing does it make it better or worse. how should tactics change, Also do the moon phases effect still water fishing. look forward to some informative replies or even some links to some info. Thanks in advance Richard
  9. All i KNow about the subject is that the guy uses one at the beginning of the Godzilla movie to check the sizes of worms at Chernobyl and he bought hundreds to the surface using his device. but i'm gonna try the battery and a couple of metal probes just for the fun of it. if i get some good bait to boot great. Richard Ps beware of shocks as these 9volt battery give a good tingle to the tongue when you test them.
  10. Hi Everyone I've just been on holiday to castle archdale in northern ireland for a week and spent a few hours fishing with no luck at all. I tried meat worm and corn on float and ledger without a bite. Has anyone got any info on fishing this lough or some tactics that might work on a very large piece of water. there is supposed to be roach bream perch rudd and pike. but not much sign of anything. Any help would be gratful as i' planning a return trip soon and would like to get something. Richard
  11. Sorry Nurse Judy but strictly PC only for this one. It would not be so good on he pc as this sim allows you to create your own file to make addon such as bait venues tackle flies lures ect.... so it is a continuosly growing program Richard
  12. Hi Gaz Ans welcome to the forum it is the most knowledgable forum i've been on so don't be afraid to ask anything about anything just make sure it in the right section.
  13. There are a few site you will need to put in favorites the main one in my books is http://www.fskingfisher.com/ here you will find the Global record (where most simmer put the best catch for each venue) and you are just in time as the records will be set back to zero in the near future. almost all of the addons including the shropshire canal possibly others from your area and a forum that is second to none when it come to helpful fishsim advice. Next we have http://www.fishsim.net/mb.htm this is used alot by the match simmers but also very helpful on all aspects of fishsim. The tips database http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~bones01/...enue%20Tips.htm most of these site have links to the numerous other sites.
  14. Try this Link some decent pics of tattoos already done http://www.tattoo.planet.ee/celtic/HTML/celtic023.htm http://www.tribal-celtic-tattoo.com/celtic1.htm This might sound daft but really it is not. Why not try and look for wallpaper borders there are some very good designs which would be easy to turn into tattoos [ 31. July 2003, 11:10 PM: Message edited by: will this name be ok ]
