  1. There's nowt wrong with being an antique just as long as it's not your line! For me, fish welfare comes first. Using old line is asking for trouble. Everything's OK ... until the day it lets you down and you lose a fish together with all your hook-end tackle. Unless you take-up my bet, we'll never know. Replacing your line regularly is not expensive. If you use monos (as opposed to braids) you can get mega spools of Daiwa Sensor (which I have tested properly via a mate's laboratory kit) for peanuts. And it's got real abrasion resistance into the bargain, not just advertising blurb I do use line lubes and granite juice stuff but I never rely on it; it's just a bonus .. maybe. Keep on truckin' The  Geezer
  2. eeeeer, what were canals built for then? The Geezer

  4. Since Robbie Brightwell left Abu UK (or was pushed?!) the whole lot's gone to ratsh%t IMPO
  5. Nugg mate, you're foolin yourself when you say "I don't need to renew line because of age .." except if you mean YOUR age not the line's age. If you're talking nylon or copolymer monos there's nothing yet on this [planet that completely stops oxidative and UV degradation especially when there's water around to help the process and some decent temperatures. It's my bet that if you had your line tested properly i.e. not the old spring balance and door handle jobbie, you'd get a shock and so would your protectant! The  Geezer
  6. cookus mate you wrote ""ive tried the river medway at yalding and teston and only seem to get bigger fish (over 1lb) by livebaiting."" how many species do you catch with live baits then? or are you a windup merchant The 'king well- -off Geezer
  7. I rate Kamasan but I rate Gamakatsu even better (Kamasan=Drennan of course!) UK importers of Gamakatsu are Keenets so why not ask them what stockists in UK hold 100-unit packs Otherwise, as the man said, what's wrong with 25s or even 10? The price penalty's not very much The  Geezer
  8. yeah but how long has that mono been sitting in the shop before you bought it?! exactly! could be years and it degrades month on month, more if it's in the sunlight The Geezer
  9. You'll have the 'king Cat Protection League after you wotsits, mate Try nylon or even braid! The Geezer
