Hi m8 i see you have been reading Keith whites site The X cast is just a slight variation on the low swing style of pendulum cast, its a style of cast that has been around for many years. I am also a low swing caster there are many variations around, and if executed correctly can all produce big distances Favourite rod at the moment is a daiwa TXNS 142 and abu mag reels What are you casting with??? and do you cast at tournaments???

the ron thompson accelerator makes a great back castrod to progress from a friend of mine has cast well over 230yds with one in tournaments backcasting and i myself have cast one over 250yds in tournaments so its well up for the job. And the price is exceptional

Another option is a leather fingerstall from the chemist which i prefer, as it gives you more feel and i have never had a shockleader cut through my finger with it. This is on the tournament field as well as fishing

Terry is still fit and healthy and producing some superb blanks (as always) He is a big sponser of the UKSF and turns up there quite often. He is a wealth of knowledge and very interesting to talk to :0)

Very sad when thats all there is to write about hammering little bass with feathers surely 4 feathers on the rig wasnt enough, you would catch 3 times as much with 12!!!!!! SAD VERY SAD Maybe trips for the immigrants that fish of southend pier would be a good idea heard they love little bass

going back to power casting with braid, i have just designed a extreme range carp rod for a well known rod firm and i was snapping 110 lb power pro with 4 ounce leads casting to ranges of 220yds. If i had been power casting with 6 ounce leads on stiff beach rods i would hate to think what LB strain braid would be needed but definately 150lb + Stick to nylon for shockleaders Terry

very important when using shockleaders in carp fishing is to make sure that your rig compents can pass over your leader knots other wise you have a death rig on your hands :mad: I would reccomend using helicopters rigs with shockleaders as if you do get your line snapped when playing a fish/ or cracking off casting the helicopter beads will slide over the leader knots allowing the hooklength to slide off the leader resulting in the fish just trailing a short hooklength. Compare this with a lead clip system where the fish will be trailing the hooklength the swivel AND 25ft of shockleader not good. Think about how your going to use them safely before tying a death rig. shockleader material fox tapered leaders (nylon)or berkley whiplash 65lb Using 5 ounce leads with out leaders is seriously unsafe and is only a matter of time before somebody is hurt, thats if your distance casting. Steve going out with them this week m8 if they are not up to it m8 the bits are yours LOL LOL For casting distance many times its the choice of rod rather than the price, i have picked up many so called inferior rods, and cast a very good distance.
