  1. I have just started a new jobas a trainee asbestos consultant after having to leave the fire service and it got me thinking what do all of you lot do between fishing trips.
  2. All those bread makers out there doing nothing what a shame. You can send them to me no problem, my ex is taking the one that I use. Sun dried tomato bread is brilliant so is the local fruit loaf called gache (pronounced gosh) will post these recipes when I can find them

    Back Biting

I used to like coming onto this forum due to the friendliness of all involved but now it seems that the backbiting and getting personal about people is coming to a fore. I know that I don't make many posts but it does not mean that I don't enjoy visiting the site. Can the moderators clamp down on the nastiness that is going around ( I am not having a pop at you because I think that you do a great job) because this is all unnecessary. I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion but personal attacks are not warranted!!!!!!
  4. I use a Minolta Dimage Z1with a 10 times zoom with some spectacular results. I am not a photograapher by any means but some of the photos that I have taken with this camera could be entered into competition.
  5. I spent 5 years on Polaris submarines and left in 1980 to get married, wish I had stayed in!!!!
  6. Check out the following site and look at the don't break the bottle section http://www.firebox.com/
  7. I was given a bottle of wine for Christmas by my "nice" sister, you may say so what? the bottle came in a configuration of wood and rope and you have to slide bits of wood which are attached to the rope through each other to release the bottle. My mates and myself still haven't achieved it yet. Unfortunatly I do not know which internet site she bought it from but it is truelly frustrating
  8. quote: If tw*ts abuse fish on piers, and other tw*ts abuse VHF channels, it undoes all the good work that conservation-minded anglers and generally decent AN-type people do. Sorry Salar but I feel that you are sinking to their level even if you use an asterisk it is obvious what you are saying and surely that is one of the points of your complaint. If a visiting angler sees this site he / she would be able to make the same observations. I know that I get livid when I hear people abuse the airwaves when I am out in the boat so I am not supporting them.
  9. If anyone is interested in coming over to Guernsey or Herm I live here and will be only too pleased to show you the right way to go and hopefully catch something that will result in one of AN members winning a prize, just give me a E mail.

    Razors

Hi Spur-Hound I use razor on a regular basis for bream wrasse triggers red mullet and even the odd plaice. I have just had a fishing holiday for a week in Herm (luckily I live in Guernsey only 3 miles away) prior to the holiday I went over specifically to dig razor for my break. I find the best way is to look for the eye shaped holes and dig, you will soon learn which holes hold the larger razors, I leave anything less than 4". Occasionally they will be brave and stick their shells above the sand as said before you can grab them and pull them out of the sand, if you are quick you can pull them out with one swift movement but if they feel you you will have to tease them out or they will break off the main muscle which is the best bit. Once you have caught enough bait take them home and blanch them in boiling water till the shells open strip them out and freeze in bags (I freeze 20 per bag)and you will have a prime bait that is firm and not mushy, for casting long distances just put a few wraps of baiting elastic and they will stay on the hook. I hope that this has been some help.
  11. Wow that came out big!!!!
  12. Can anyone help me find the mould for this type of weight? It is a lift weight, when you start the retrieve it lifts straight to the surface even when a fishis attached to the line its great on rough ground and I hace only got three left. edit note: shrunk the picture a bit to make it easier to see. 13. I find that with a fish that has "blown" its swim bladder the sharp point from a hook is best as it only leaves a pin hole for the fish to heal not the larger hole that a knife leaves. As for the original subject of eating fish I have no problem eating fish that I catch as I will only take what I know that will be eaten in my household the rest is returned for me to catch the next time. Ray wings are a fantastic meal if done in black butter (butter with capers)
  14. I work as a part time pall bearer and am going to pass the first joke on on Friday (the next time I am doing some part time work)
