  1. have you tried bulking out your groundbait with rice?? i find it quite hard to beat especially when targeting bream and carp, bream will spend ages trying to get every last grain up, even more so if you add a flavor additive and coloring to the rice when cooking it
  2. my entry hope its ok as its nearly dark  Last night's sunset over Pendle Hill taken from my bedroom window
  3. I'm presuming so, its been 2 weeks, its been a hard one to judge but I'm gonna have to go with Manxmans Entry for the winner
  4. There are some awesome entries this fortnight, it gonna be a hard one to choose a winner from, Hope theres going to be more pics posted
  5. Thanks ayjay, I think i'll buy one, you never know when you'll need something like that, just looked up the record for gudgeon and its 5 ounce, so my mate was really close to the record, i think i'll start fishing his spot when he's not around lol
  6. We've had bad weather today made some backroads impassable i had to do a 12 mile detour adding another 20 minutes on to what usually is a 10 minute journey to my mates house I suppose the bad weather has been a blessing for some as my buddy loves it when the river swells, he's been down there since 7am this morning lol
  7. do any of you carry a set of digital jewellers scales in your tackle box??? the reason why i ask this as a good friend of mine always carries one in his pocket when out fishing on the river, i've seen him weighing gudgeon on them biggest gudgeon he has caught so far is 140 grams, not sure how much that is in ounces but is it worth the money to buy one for such a small fish, I've been on the rivers a lot recently and am debating buying one if they are worth using on small fish what do you chaps reckon?
  8. Luckily I've sorted it with the club and got a years membership plus an apology and a pint off the bailiff he thought i was polish thats why he was rude lol as for united utilities they have been less than helpful, I've threatened to take them to the small claims court for damage to my van, my vans a complete wreck, my buddy quoted me 600 quid to weld and replace the parts, my vans worth 400 so is going to the scrap yard on the bonus side, my buddy has offered me his 51 plate berlingo van for 500 so not all lost there plus i can pay it off in installments even better so its not all bad news on this subject
  9. my thoughts and prayers are with their families at this hard time, RIP
  10. try using a hair dryer on it only use it for 10 - 12 seconds at a time to see if the heat expands the sections slightly enough to part them, i had to do this the other week when i'd stupidly dropped my pole into a muddy puddle i'd tried to jump lol
  11. wow nice, I really like this one cracking shot Manxman
  12. has anyone had any experience with a bad water?? I decided to go up to one of my local waters for a fishing session, i'd paid a day in advance for my ticket and headed out the next morning, now even before i'd got to the water i'd had problems, the track up to the lake itself had massive potholes everywhere you could not avoid them, i've damaged my fishing van to the extent that i may be scrapping him depending on what my mate can do with the damage to the underside of eddie today, anyway i did not know at the time i'd done anything serious to my van so once i'd finally got to the car park i unloaded and headed up to the bank to find a good spot. I'd found a nice little spot and started to set up, an hour into fishing a bailiff came round and checked my day ticket, most baliffs i've dealt with are nice and talkative, this chap was grumpy and abnoxious, it put my mood down considerably he left and i carried on fishing, i looked around the bank and noticed rubbish, discarded line, barbeques, etc all over, not to mention the old cans and plastic bags floating on the water, i decided enough was enough and packed up and headed home. I'm not naming and shaming the club and water yet as i've been in talks with the club about the state of the water unfortunatley the track is owned by united utilities, which i'm ringing up today, but the club have apologised for the state of the banks etc and will try to get it sorted and the bailiff is going to have a good talking to, I've been offered a free years membership which i may take, but still i'll be hard pressed to fish up there again in the near future so who's had a similar experience on a water and did you talk to the club about it, what got said and done?? Cheers Rob
  13. it's a good question, I love spinning been predator fishing for 15 years but i do agree that a lot of pike are not brilliant fighters, where as the perch no matter what size are brilliant fighters, just recently i've been doing a lot of coarse and catching loads of small to medium perch with ease, double maggot, worm, lancefish or section of prawn are pulling some decent perch in for me, even my 8 year old son andrew landed a massive perch using lancefish I must admit i'm going to be targeting perch more than pike this year, my local reservior has some monster perch according to the local tackle shop, and i'm debating hitting it for a 2 day session once my bivvy arrives
  14. I think that trust needs a good shake up and the doctor who ordered that to be fired, discrimination in its finest, disability should not be treated different to anything else, its not his fault he was born that way, so the docs should not take it into their own hands to decided whether a patient should be revived or not, playing with peoples lives like they are god, really pisses me off
  15. another bit of advice for you is to study google maps near your canal and look for wider sections or sections which look fairly quiet, I've started pressing print screen and open the copy in paint and mark on the map different sections you've caught fish and what bait, i also paint red sections where not to fish in evenings due to chavs and drug users, in the end you will have a good knowledge of your local canal and where to probably catch the better number of fish during a session I've got tonnes of maps of the leeds and liverpool canal on my pc, i'm quite amazed just how many i've done lol heres a basic one for you to look at and get the idea
