My mate works in sports direct and his boss asked me to write a article for his staff on the basics of it all so they have a rough idea what they are talking about. After writing a fairly decent and informative article for him, He gave me 50£ store credit, I walked in and gave him the report and had a browse around with him, after i had the credit voucher in my hand, i gave him my honest opinion of the stock and it was utter rubbish for the most part. Cheap enough but for a reason. They had a few bits i thought were alright, had a few decent lures and floats but thats about it.

Once we know a bit more detail mate we can give you better answers but the best advice i can give is keep it simple. There are loads of fancy rigs/baits/rods ect but for starters keep it simple because the simple stuff still works. I would suggest just get yourself a decent float rod, a basic fixed spool reel with 6lb line, a few floats, hooks and shot and grab some maggots and sweetcorn and hit a local lake. fishing is a marathon not a sprint, dont try to learn everything at once because youll get sick of it. pick up bits along the way and learn new things slowly

For night runs, get a pair of sandals, quick to put on and will keep your feet off the ground when running to the rod.
