  2. Yeah, why bother with watercraft or any sort of skills. just stuff a pond with fish and chuck hooks at them. The term 'fish in a barrel' springs to mind. I know we all hate to blank but it's part of the game. On the upside more space on the river banks for the rest of us.
  3. I get the feeling that this happens to everyone at some point. whether its fishing or any other "hobby". up until a year or so ago I'd been away from fishing for years. Kids, work and just being generally busy with getting on with life meant that every trip out had to planned well in advance and of course on the chosen day it would be blowing a gale/snowing or raining so hard you could drown on the bank. All I can say is never force yourself to do something you would normally enjoy otherwise you will end up hating it! take a break. you will probably inching to get back out there before you know it! and if not, well it's only fishing.
  4. To be honest I'm more mildly interested than concerned about this as I'm not particularly sensitive and of course not everyone there was interested in what I was up too. The manager was a decent chap, chatty and helpful, showing me a map of depths and where the toilets are(always important as far as I'm concerned ) As I'm new here I thought I'd pick a topic that might spark a little interest and maybe find some points of view without hopefully stepping on anybody's toes. I'm fairly lucky for a fishing venue as I manage a small public park that the river Medway runs a long one border of,with 7 purpose built swims but as I had a whole day free( which like most with a family, work, dog I suspect is fairly rare !) and it is only 15mins away from home I thought I would give it a try.
  5. I have been fishing a few years but never been to a commercial fishery, it may have been my imagination but my float fishing in challenging windy conditions seemed to amuse the lads sitting behind their alarms waiting for the the carp to bite. The funny thing is I had a great day for Rudd and Perch, whilst the alarms stayed mostly silent! I was just wondering if this is typical fishery behaviour? or am I just paranoid? after all we are there for the same reason..

    Hello!

Hello out there.. I'm one of those returning to fishing after a few years away types. I have managed a small public park with the river Medway running through it for the past 2 years and we were clearing the vegetation along the river bank when I realized how stupid I would be not to take advantage! I enjoy float fishing and like to keep things things simple! If you need a wheelbarrow you've got too much kit! Darren.
