In a way you are right Chesters. You can have access to the web and still keep your important data on servers safe but you aren't limited to phone lines. Leased lines are different than phone lines in which they can use different 'protocols' for each to talk. The most cost effective way to do this is to use frame relay (most larger companies use this) --To keep it simple networks can talk securely by placing all of the data in tunnels which not only keep it separate from other data but keep it secure as well. The 'pipe' in FR is shared so it has to be kept separate. The government probably has its own dedicated lines so they don't have to share they just encrypt it. If they know what they are doing it won't take months- merely minutes.

Every now and then there are bills that are 'snuck' through. Do a search on the Brady bill and see what comes up. I'm sorry I don't agree. I don't have an opinion- but many of the points that Newt posted are valid and some are just downright stupid. I honestly don't think there is a 'wild west attitude'. Had something similiar a few years ago. Someone decided to use our unused debit card to purchase tickets from Brazil to Portugal via travelocity. It took an investigation and a few months to get all of our money back. A call to travelocity made it possible to cancel his/her return ticket. (small victory) I do ALL of my banking online and now check on a daily basis for anything out of the ordinary. Glad you had a quick resolution and good on your bank for catching it.

It took me quite a while to read through this thread last night. I can't believe that I let it go for so long without. Quite funny what most find frightening.. I'm a woosy too. Rooney mentioned his fear of pumas. I don't know if pumas are the same here that they are in the USA but I had a great scare while fishing in central Oregon. I was night fishing for catfish during the summer. We had been camping for about two months. I was about 14 years old and about 100 meters from our camp. It was quiet and all of a sudden there was this sound like a women screaming that went on for nearly 5 minutes. (More like 2 minutes) The hair on the back of my neck stood up and our dogs were going absolutely crazy. Had two labs at the time. I made it back to camp scared out of my wits. We found out the next day that they were hunting a mountain lion (AKA puma) with dogs and it came past our camp. We never did get word that it had been caught. I've been lucky enough to see one in the wild. Magnificent animals. I'm just glad that I didn't meet it face to face.

Easy enough to reset your access point once that has happened. Not speaking from experience of course. Most people don't change the ip address straight out of the box so you could in theory telnet/ssh to it. Common knowledge is the public ip range of 192.168.0.1 and spoofing a mac address. Also not speaking from experience. Once you have access you pretty much have the keys to the kingdom. Most peoples lives are on their computers. The guy was just not very smart using his mobile.

Flyfishing is all year up here.

My company is pretty much the same. Ten paid holidays, a few floaters and depending upon how long you have been with the company a few hours a month for PTO (personal time off). I've been with mine long enough to have gone from 6 hours a month to 10. My floaters consist of Presidents day, Columbus day, and Veterans day. We get Jan 1 New Years day Jan 21 Martin Luther King Jr. Feb 18 Presidents day May 26 Memorial day July 4 Independance day Sept 1 Labor day Oct 13 Columbus day Nov 11 Veterans day Nov 27 Thanksgiving day Dec 25 Christmas day Newt you don't get Columbus or Veterans day off?
