  1. My mother in law is making the trip over in a few months. In America she is classed as disabled having severe back and leg pain due to her spine deteriorating. Will her disabled permit transfer here or will I need to establish this with a private doc?
  2. But when they want to add a 'fat tax' because waistlines have increased over the years? Blame it on technology and any 9 year olds ability to text, or PM friends instead of riding over to play.
  3. I'd like to know where these numbers come from. Haven't seen anyone stalking my cat as yet.
  4. Try Fly Fishing and Fly Tying . I've picked up a few ideas and how to tie certain types of flies from here. Last months shrimp variant turned out rather well after a few tries as well. Looks like I need to pop down and pick up the March issue. Also try here for a pattern index, here for nymphs, and here For different types of kit. You can spend a fortune on a vice when all you really need is a third hand. The inexpensive models work just as well. You can get your material from just about anywhere. Great fun.
  5. I definitely agree. Picking up where some left off... qoute: what the hell went wrong to give us the society/culture we have today, now thats another question Could it be technology? qoute: I'm sure there are just as many offenders around today as there was back in our youth, but as has already been said these things where possibly ignored or not uncovered/broadcast. Offenders were still there but were fairly local. The internet made it possible to prey anonymously and over greater distance.
  6. Hi Stash welcome to AN. Rules and regs license fees etc. here Note a rod license only covers so many rods. Take a look at the exchange rate as well. At the moment 1.91 pounds will get you 1 US dollar.
  7. Not sure yet. I'm only down that way once every two or three months and that's for shopping. I doubt I can get a kitchen pass while she shops. If I can ever get my father over here, that is where I think I'll take him.
  8. I received most of my kit here . It arrived in a decent amount of time as well. It can get frustrating when you first start. See if you can take a course or two. I started last month, without taking a class, and only now am I getting distance and accuracy. Now if only the wind would die down. I'd be out there now [ 22. 10. Lol sorry Nursey. I know what they are I just never get any pm's. I forgot my smiley face again.
  11. Most of the day I drifted bead heads like hairs ear and pheasant tails. Nothing was working until I noticed a green type fly. I still don't know what it was and there weren't many but they were fluttering about the top. I only witnessed one rise to one of these flies and was in a perfect position to cast. First cast/drift with the only floating fly I had and this was the result. The only other rise I got was when she took my fly. Possibly the most satisfaction from one fish I have ever had. I'm definitely hooked. [ 21. February 2004, 10:25 PM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  12. Is she (Jordan) only a celeb because she has big knockers? Got an error message on your last post Dave err Ferret [ 21. February 2004, 09:32 PM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  13. 11 pds 6 oz?? I can only wish. Nice one Colin. Question about availability. Just curious. Is there a set amount of day tickets available to fish these reservoirs? I might not be reading it correctly.

I never would have thought of that Alan. Can get pretty expensive if it happens often enough eh? I borrowed a rod from a friend fishing from his boat off the Mississippi gulf coast. I had a huge cobia on and thought I'd help out by trying to lift at the center of the rod. That's right where it broke. I still caught the fish and bought Keith a new rod. Funny thing is nobody can seem to forget that it happened.
  15. Jangar, I wasn't having a go at you. Let me clarify. It's only that a code of conduct is nothing but an agreement. I can tell you after three years of dealing with people in a controlled environment a code of conduct will not work. Not by the majority of people here on AN but still violated. We called them core values. What a load of c**p. Integrity that was the first to go. You can take people at their word but only trust them so far as you can throw them. Action speaks louder than words.
  16. Re-read my first post. It still comes down to what is morally acceptable. What I find objective in nature you may not and that goes both ways. Television was just an example. Tis why we are in this dilemna. On a different note, am I correct in assuming the moderators give their own free time to police this forum and others? It has got to be a huge undertaking given a site like this. Been there and done that the only difference here is instead of an a$$ kicking you get a tongue lashing. Another option could be a three strike rule. Add it in as an agreement when you become a member. Then you would need someone to keep track. Mindboggling isn't it? [ 18. 17. Not strictly true, look at Channel 14 on a Thursday after 10 pm ! Found it accidently when dialling for Channel 34 (weather for fishing next day) BTW after all the fuss about Janet Jackson at the superbowl halftime (200,000 complaints), there is currently massive advertising on several USA channels for a video "Girls go wild" with enough ballons in it to refloat the Titanic. "Only in America" You're right Vagabond. The meaning behind that statement was just that it is more acceptable here than it is in the USA. Not sure what channel 14 is but most of the channels I was familiar with you had to pay an additional charge. Sky after 10pm would be equivalent to USAs' HBO after hours or Showtime/Cinemax in the USA. Might I suggest Graham Norton, Men and Motors, Laid Bare or Euro trash? All are available after 10pm on Sky. Either way not as readily available as the Sun Janet Jackson?? You can't be serious! I thought she was dead. You can expect just about anything from the Jacksons. To do something like that during a primetime show? Just plain stupid.
  18. Sounds good to me. I doubt everyone will read through it. It still comes down to what is morally acceptable. For instance It's ok to show women topless here in the UK but you wouldn't ever see it in America. There didn't seem to be many problems when Elton/Nickinthenorth had the password system set up. The only problem with that was it took forever to get set up.

Cheers Paul I've got another that I haven't used yet. Same size and weight. I'll see if I can fix it. If I can't well it isn't all that old so I may see if I can get another tip for it. It was a three piece- now a four. They say things that go wrong come in threes. First was dropping the digi cam in the water. Now this. What's next? Think I'll stay home from work tomorrow. How Bl***Y embarrasing

About a month ago I was reading a book on fly fishing and somewhere in that book it stated 'The most common cause of a broken rod is shutting it in a car door'. I thought at the time, what kind of idiot would do that? (ME) I've got a 9'6" 7/8 weight that I'm completely sick over. Found out this morning it's easier than you might think. So rule of thumb: TAKE THE TIME TO BREAK DOWN YOUR ROD!! I have a general idea of how to fix it. Thread (silk?) and epoxy but does it need to rotate to keep the epoxy from creating a run while drying?
  21. You aren't the only one. I haven't seen any trout since last July. All were taken on spinner or fly. Trotting red maggot was working for grayling on Monday by the guy I was sharing my swim with. Shame I didn't have any imitations.
  22. I use the same for both. Just a bit slower and deeper in the winter. Some times it varies and you can cast 50 times in the same swim change the retrieve and you wonder where they all came from. Might tie on a trailer hook an inch or two behind. Perch like to bump them as if to stun I think. My favorites are a gold or brass spinner and a orange and yellow spoon. Where do you find your pictures Kendo? I see some similiarities between those two
