  1. He's hard to handle even being fixed. Luckily my wife cleaned the box before she left so won't need it cleaned til she gets back. They are her cats after all. Cran - Thanks. She said something about an extemely low clone rate. Whatever that means, genetic in nature but not bred out of a dish. Definitely interesting.
  2. To put into perspective I am just under 17 stone. Churchill is more hair than anything else. Can't honestly tell you what he weighs. Big eh? ps. Newt when you see this can you resize? I've not gotten the hang of it yet. Thanks (edit note - done. Newt) [ 16. February 2004, 10:15 PM: Message edited by: Newt ]
  3. I'll see about getting a picture posted of ours. My better half won't be back until Friday but I can get a website then for you if you want Lid.
  4. Actually do a search for Maine coons. Ours is 1.5 yrs and not quite that large. There is a lady that sells them outside of Newcastle near that size.
  5. Just back from the river and the first time I've been down after the flooding. Most of the significant features are still there while entire trees, sandbars, and pebble beaches are nearly or completely gone. Some of my favorite swims have absolutely no cover and the contour of the bottom has changed a bit as well. Almost seems as if I have never been fishing there. Now I get to explore 'new water' again. Anyone else have there favorite swim destroyed?
  6. Couldn't.. There was a match on and 'no fishing allowed'. They take up the whole b*****y stretch too and I don't care to fish stillwaters. Should be back from Manchester early enough tomorrow to get in most of a day though.
  7. Has anyone noticed there are more and more re-runs of fishing shows lately? I've switched on John Wilson on Safari at least 4 times in the last month catching Nile perch. I used to look forward to watching every week. Not so much any more. Don't get me wrong I miss a few things only to catch them the next time around, but that laugh (whoops). Someone told me not long ago that watching someone fish is like watching ten-pin bowling, golf, or darts on TV. I didn't agree - still don't but I am beginning to see their point.
  8. LT just hit the full reply form next to preview post Fantastic feature Elton [ 10. February 2004, 09:03 PM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  9. No-one I know would be eligible for that. How many times have you had deja vu? Cartomancy- I didn't know there was a word for playing cards! Any idea what religion this is Chesters? Elell?
  10. Moon Phases Interesting concept.Maybe it applies to bird watching and hunting since the light at night is better..
  11. There is an article in Flyfishing and Fly tying this month but I can't find it on their site. It might only be in the mag and I can't seem to locate mine at the moment. Scottish salmon wasn't it?
  12. I know it can be done, but don't know about the quality. Of course it can't be any worse than VHS anyway right? At least by turning them into DVDs you'll be saving space. One of my friends and I researched value for money on these. This one has a time delay function so you can start watching the program before it has finished recording it. You'll pay more for a hard drive but the majority of options they have do not really increase. [ 07. February 2004, 09:42 AM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  13. Forgot to mention the odd fish here and there.
  14. Comes down to personal preference I think. It's a fantastic past-time but I can't see/understand why you would go to certain commercial fisheries and fish literally pole tip to pole tip with the person across the pond from you. That isn't to say they all are like that. Or another point of view.. There are less people fishing in my neighbors garden. Then to play devils advocate.. if you wanted to introduce someone to fishing and you wanted them to have a good time would you consider it? I think I might and that would be the only time I would. Rivers on the other hand.. Has to be the experience. I've seen foxes, martins (or mink), kingfishers, hummingbirds, swimming squirrels, and most importantly not a single person. Not sure I can answer why the bad publicity but I'm sure someone will.
  15. Actually I honestly didn't but I do now. Thanks Ridge

[/qb] Not fishing, just a bit off colour for a while brown mostly but grey at times and white at others and thats just my skin colour Anyway as I said you have upset no one so chill out  Alan(nl) [/QB] You must be feeling better then. Good to see you back Alan.
  17. In Oregon it is illegal to pump your own fuel. Growing up there I never actually knew how to do it. So you can imagine driving out of state by myself for the first time. Pulling into the service station and waiting for a really long time (wondering where the %*$#*ing service attendant was) before I realized everyone else was pumping their own. You would be surprised how many people don't know how to check tires (tyres ) and oil. Seems like I do it all the time... No we don't make them pay. Half when asked don't even know what year their car is. Try asking what engine size.. Usually its a blank look and blink blink - uh it's the blue one over there. [ 05. Ah Alan, back from Egypt? Kidding actually but you haven't been posting as often as usual. So what is it? Fishing? Chesters? Out of sight = out of mind. The ones left are the ones in mourning. The rest is just news.. and oops wait a minute update on Iraq/Afganstan/I'm a celebgetmeouttahere time to change the channel
  19. Who did you order from Jeff? Two weeks before Christmas, I ordered a dvd player and AV receiver from one supplier and a new speaker set from another - both arrived within 48 hours The original company that I tried to order from was Empire Direct. This model. I've sent this new company two emails so far because they do not answer any phones. I have received the same answer each time. "The item you order is out of stock. ETA is not yet available for this item. Unlike Floats direct.. at least they answer queries.
  20. Don't forget to support the rest of the body. Or better yet use the net and a unhooking mat.
  21. Newt are you planning a trip to Mexico?
  22. I'm still waiting for that DVD recorder that I had to reorder 3 days before Christmas because the first company failed to inform me three weeks prior to Christmas that it was no longer stocked. Went with a different company and a slightly more expensive model. Still waiting.
