    Smoking

Terry, I quit on 12 Jan. My grandfather passed on the 10th from a combination drinking and smoking. A series of heart attacks. Seems it runs in my family. I started running as well. Back on topic though. If you have made it this far without any aids good for you. I've tried to quit many times and I think the patch is the way to go. I won't pick up another. Hopefully if you are married your wife doesn't smoke. Mine does but it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Think of all the cash you are going to save. Good luck
  2. At the very least bring back the rabbit for HSA. I have to admit though.. Terrible hairdresser-- My sister is watching outside and I want her to think that you did it. Hilarious!

    Apology

Paul the only thing I can say that is remotely equivalent to what was posted is to watch Bug Attack on Sky the next time it's on. Particularly the part about human parasites. Chesters do you trust anyone?? With the information what was presented via the news and regardless of whether anyone believed it was right or wrong (in reference to the threads during the war) someone has to take the blame. With these inquiries coming up who knows what will happen? If you can't believe everything you hear, read, and watch maybe L. Tinca is right. Show it all and decide for yourself. It just might not be appropriate for AN though....

    Apology

Just curious but why do you suppose American news channels edit their material so much more than BBC? I'm probably opening a can of worms with this one. As an example a certain news channel (don't ask-I can't remember) had a story about a training compound in Afganistan that had been hit pretty hard. The story showed footage of bomb craters and the like. Now the same story on BBC showed bodies and craters.

    Apology

True but you wouldn't see that on page 3 would ya? (well not in America) I was thinking more about NathaN actually.. It wouldn't have been half as bad if there was a link to it. That way you would have a choice whether or not to go to the link. Posting pictures this way leaves no choice. The whole thing was rather embarrasing for me.
  6. I owe all I offended an apology for the thread 'Not fot the faint'. I suppose when you have to think about whether something might or might not be appropriate it more than likely isn't. Sorry
  7. Right, so I just finished watching a documentary called Bug Attack. Pretty well disgusting. Everything from eating spiders to watching giant leeches in the Amazon enjoying a meal. This reminded me of a picture that someone sent to me a while back. Anyway with this who needs mail order maggots.... Could it be a hoax? [ 03. February 2004, 12:01 PM: Message edited by: Gaffer ]

    cannabis

I've seen the effects it can cause. Four siblings only one of which smokes that crap. The other three have productive lives, (not a drain on society), in two cases incomes over 60K. No children to speak of, yet the one that smokes works in a diner, smells horrible, has 6 children all under 6 yrs of age, and can barely make ends meet if at all. It almost sounds like lazyness really, but it causes nothing but turmoil in the families that have to support it. You could turn your back on the cause but never the children caught up in it.
  9. Found myself nodding as well. So many factors but can it be narrowed down to one? I believe it is a variety of those factors. Each one contributes to or balances in some way. Fen, it's the same with perch in the US. You rarely hear of them over a pound. What is the secret ingredient? [ 01. February 2004, 10:37 AM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]

    Scam!

Getting more and more common for that. Try going to Subway for a sandwich. Two meatball subs, two bags of crisps and two drinks nearly 19 pounds. Theres your ripoff. Must cost more to bake bread over here. The trick is to leave the deal price the same. Only 99 cents isn't the same as 99 pence.

  12. There's a small amount here in Ripon this morning. Glad I don't have to cycle in. Congrats Leon. Just think of all the fishing you can do [ 26. January 2004, 07:56 AM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  13. Must be an American thing.. Bubble wrap is supposed to be something you snap when bored. There isn't a lot going on AN this early in the morning. Turn on your speakers and click on the bubbles.
  14. Too cold to fish.. Bubble Wrap
  15. Thanks for the replies. I used the ext blood knot today and had a miserable enough time keeping them from tangling. I think that is down to inexperience. Actually after the first rats nest I went back to fishing a single nymph. I'll give the others a try soon. Just out of curiousity.. Have you ever heard of ready made leaders with droppers already incorporated into them? Personally I'd rather make them. Probably not a new idea though. Could this be a money making opportunity?? Ken I read something similiar today in the February issue of Fly fishing and Fly tying about attaching the 'dropper' flies to other barbless flies if that makes any sense. Only it was refered as a Norwegian tactic. Good idea only I might be concerned with the dropper coming off and leaving a length of line and a nymph that always fishes. By the way the Feb issue has given me a few ideas for flies to expand on. Mostly about grayling and salmon and this crazy notion that the hatches are dwindling. Thanks again [ 25. 16. Oh no not another question I was wondering what might be the best method for attaching droppers to your leader? I'm currently using a extension blood knot to attach them. There's got to be an easier way
  17. I haven't yet seen this posted on AN but I thought it could be helpful. Scans for known viruses and online threats. It takes some time depending on your connection speed. In my case ages but it doesn't cost anything. Symantec Of course you should already have some sort of virus software/firewall etc already so this would only be redundant.
  18. Maybe they'll let you fish the hazards.
  19. Wow Lid, my wife would kill me if I left worms on top of the refridgerator let alone keeping them inside. So what's the difference between brandlings, dendros, and lobworms?

    Hooks..........

Nathan, crushing the barbs work and some actually break off, I use both.. Break them off then file whats left. Seems easier to me but it doesn't take that much time either way. Greg, have you got any pointers on what materials to use for tying? I've got pheasant hackles and a few peacock feathers. Other odds and ends as well. Still learning and have yet to work out how I want to make a weighted nymph. Thanks in advance
  21. sounds like there could be a variety of solutions. Check for corrosion around battery terminals and cracks like Billy suggested. Sometimes the corrosion can work its way up into the copper wire as well. Could also be a loose belt. One way to check the alternator is to get the car running and voltage test it with a multi-meter attach it to the battery, then turn or everything you can inside (lights, defroster, wipers, heater fan etc) and run it around 2K rpms. It should be pushing around 14V with everything on. Another good indicator is if it dies soon after starting. Since the weather has turned cold I've done many of these tests and changed nearly as many batteries. Good luck finding it. Hopefully it won't be too expensive. [ 20.
