    The strike guard is used when bait fishing. It attaches to the handle and holds the line with and adjustable amount of tension. With the line in the device you can open the bail so when a fish strikes it releases and allows the line to free spool. All you have to do is close the bail and set the hook, no more messing with the drag. It basically turns any spinning reel into a bait runner. They work great for trout which will spook easily. I tried attaching some pictures but its not working. Maybe because I'm a new member.
