Here's another "Scorched Bodied Balsa" but this time the Bristle is a yellow adaptor from a Gas Lighter Refill Can. You get 5 adaptors supplied in the Tin Lid. No need for Paint - (If you like Yellow??) It's Spiked & Glued deep into the body with wood skewer, & a dab of glue to block off the small hole in the top. The Tip is Brighter than the Pic' shows!! - I'm (Clearly) No David Bailey or Patrick Lichfield lol.

Here's 3 more, okay so nowhere near shop quality but they've filled an hour or 2 !! I've scorched the balsa bodies on two of them with a lighter before painting for a bit of contrast!! (And a Colour for Free) Need to be quick to blow it out before it sets on fire.

When I've got the wire stem a bit too light, I've added a .22 Air Rifle pellet (crimped on the bottom or drilled through & slipped up the wire stem & Epoxied) It's all "Trial & Error" but I love to play!!!

Hi Ian, I can still post Pic's on here!! So, from my Laptop ...... 1) Go into "My Pictures" (having 1st Imported the Pic's) 2) Right click on the Photo. 3) Select "Open With" 4) Select "Microsoft Picture Manager". 5) Click "Edit Pictures" on the top Tool bar. 6) Click "Compress Pictures". (bottom option, middle right) 7) Click " Documents (Bullet point on right) Save on Top toolbar. (there's a reminder to save if you don't) Then go back to AN & do the usual (choose files etc) It's because the files are too big until you compress the picture!! There is no discernible loss in the quality. Like this .... Seems Long Winded, but in reality, only takes a minute or so.

At least Otters will eat a whole fish, whereas Mink will kill a fish, eat only the brain (leaving the rest of the body on the bank) then quickly go & kill another!! - I've seen the evidence a few times at my local commercials!!

Cut the "Toe Ends" off old, thinish socks & you have Mitts!! Fold 'em back to loose feed/tie hooks etc & pull 'em forward to keep ya pandies nice n warm!! And still have some dexterity when "Striking" Wear them with the Cuff towards the wrist for longer life.

Thanks for the link Ken, but no I don't do it for cheapness. I just like to play. I bought a bundle of balsa dowel last year or so ago, a packet of 1.5 mm brass rod & same in 3 mm Aluminium tube. Here's some I made out of the above stuff, I have used some already & they fish very well. The far right one is out of a flat wooden coffee stirrer from Greggs, with a balsa body.

Hard on, is more associated with a Deep Sleep at ours these days!!

Same guy sadly passed away & it took a week to get the coffin lid down!!

Then there is the "Calorific Value" Lie - you pay more for better Gas????

Hi guys & gals - here's a float I made using a Free pen from the Bookies. For those who don't bet - just go in & grab a handful, there's loads on the tables. Pull off the snap on top & remove the refill. Stuff the bore with a strip of polystyrene foam & blank off the 4 anti choking holes with a spot of hot glue or similar. Glue a piece of 1.5 mm brass rod- for self cocking if you want?? (or glue over the Nib hole if not) Paint as required. Left is the Pen - Right is the end product OK for down the edge!!
