  1. A Derbyshire Family of 12 are deciding whether or not to have another Baby!! Maybe Kids in abundance & cuddling up at night could solve some Energy problems ????? Just a thought!! .
  2. Yep' Dave - not many people are bragging that "Jim Fixed It For Me" !! The Name of the Band was - Showadde' Wadde'. Now then, Now then - Jewelry Jewelry!!
  3. I can remember Mam, who lived till the age of 93, telling me about a man they called "Billy Suckerpipe" - Never did any harm (as far as anyone was aware) but he used to watch the girls doing P E in their Navy blue knickers through the School railings.
  4. Can I go back out snowballing after me' dinner Mam, when me' socks are drier??
  5. I can still remember the steam coming from my breath when getting up for school, we had a Gerry under the bed, Candlewick Bedspreads & shared an outside Bog!! - complimented with old Radio Times (TV Times was a bit too shiny)
  6. 1) Eat more Salads. 2) Eat more Salads. 3) Wear some Jumpers & Thick Socks 4) Go to the Library during the day & use the Councils' Leccie to keep warm. 5) Turn stuff off on standby OFF - like Microwaves, Telly's etc. 6) Eat more Salads. 7) Nick some wood & have a fire in the Garden. We could all get there - it's just that some can't be Arsed!!
  7. Hi James, Welcome to the Forum. "Floating Baits Allowed" are quickly becoming a thing of the past due to the fishery owners thinking that it's too easy!! Although one can easily get round it by fishing the Blob, just a couple of inch deep with meat, maggot or pellet etc.
  8. Hi all, my Granddaughter has just qualified as cabin crew for a certain airline & told me they get 10% of ALL in flight sales. (Food, Snacks & Duty Free, Including some very nice watches, perfumes etc) No wonder then, they go round serving the Money People 1st, starting at the back & front of the plane, leaving those in the middle of the aircraft with what ever is left over. It's happened to us on a couple of occasions & they just give you a knowing smile when I mentioned this - (Getting the Sh*t end of the stick, with not much choice that is) Good to know how it works - Thought it was just Me!!
  9. Well done Dave, beats my PB Pike (5 Lb 4 oz) many years ago & the chips went very well with it (Back in the day)
  10. My mate is also 88+ & I'm 65 and a bit, we still manage to go fishing during the week & he picks me up in the Range Rover you know. Not very far, but it gets us both out for the day. (& gives our wives a break)
  11. I'm by no means an expert on fracking Ken, but the locals of which it could take place have raised more than a few concerns!! Is it to do with the movement of housing & compensation or more, environmental Issues (fracking seems to have been somewhat put on hold just now)
  12. Sod Putin - we've loads of warm clothes & thick socks (+ a couple of good air rifles for small game, if it comes to it lol)
  13. If Maggie hadn't used our North Sea Oil & Gas to pay the Dole, we would be in a much better place than we are now?? (I was just over a boy at the time though)
  14. Gene Wilder was a much better Wonker - Bar None!! (Though I heard, Amber went down much better)
  15. If only I was 45 years younger!!! (except for the gay bar & Internal bit) They still don't like it that we singed the King of Spain's Beard!!! + We've kept our Quid!!
  16. We don't have one, but I've seen the Ninja Foodie range & they look very good on the shopping TV channels??
  17. We're all good at something Dave, & I was very good at Inspecting for the MOD, the Oil tool Industry & the power transmission Industry - I was fortunate enough (by accident of birth) to be in the right places at the right times!! (I'm not such a bad Lathe operator either, especially drilling bolts) It's really all down to "Accidents Of Birth" - Prince George will want for nothing, whereas other kids will die at the hands of abusive parents!!
  18. Leave Mo alone!! - I had a Tenner on him at 33/1 to win "BBC Sports Personality Of The Year" (& a Fiver at 16/1) And Mo had to stick to it as he was only a child at the time (Like you would if it was discovered you were quite good at something) Bearing in mind he will have been guided by Adults, (Sporting & Not) to keep it that way!!! He won all his sporting achievements fair and square - unlike that cheating, bar steward Armstrong!! I'm sure most of us have done things we aren't particularly proud of !! Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone ........
  19. Treat yourself to Yorkshire Fish & Chips while you're up here as well !! (+Mushy Peas, Tea, Bread & Butter) There are some very nice Fish & Chip Restaurants in Ripon. We do Haddock as a norm' up here!!
  20. You are correct up to a point Ken, however I keep my maggots in the fridge in a bait box with layers of Kitchen roll. Remember to turn the fridge up a notch or 2 as well in this hot weather. I've kept my current batch of maggots for over 2 weeks now & all is well (I've just had a look a few minutes ago) Give them half a hour at room temperature every couple of days or so to Liven them up taking the paper out, then re layer them (even with the old paper) & re fridge them. Also make sure it's a proper maggot box with Air holes in the lid!!
  21. Hi John, Dad & I fished a match on the river Ure on Lord Bolton's estate on a coarse fishing basis (on a Trout & Grayling length) The object of the exercise was to remove the coarse fish for which there was an EA Tanker waiting to take any caught to other fisheries. That was over 45 years ago, however I've looked & on the Ure, & there are Barbel, Chub & Roach still to to be had on the site below. Not sure about Day Tickets?? https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=AwrLDsXOjchiA3sL1GEM34lQ;_ylu=Y29sbwNpcjIEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny/RV=2/RE=1657339471/RO=10/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.helpwithfishing.com%2frivers%2friver-ure.php/RK=2/RS=xSKhFFoJK1WB4Io6nFGMDHbClVY-
  22. Putin - I've all these Army & Air force Lads sat on their arses playing table tennis & pool, I know - lets make them earn their money & invade Ukraine!!
  23. Well at my time of life (65) & even before that, I've never spent more than around £40 tops for a reel, but that's just me!! It's a case of diminishing returns IMHO - Is a £280+ reel 7 times better than a £40 one??
  24. Yes Ant, I also have a Ground Spike, 3 pronged. Trouble was, the other club members would moan about me hammering it in & spooking the fish. (So I hit it even harder lol)
  25. Keith, My Box is also a Matchbox & the Brolly Arm fits that. The Leg receiving holes are 25 mm Splined & fit over the Leg like a Ring Spanner, so can have it in any rotational position.
