  1. Live near who?? Bloody do gooders?? Right wing fascist? (your words not mine!) Altitude sickness I think...from the lofty heights of your soapbox... What does this have to do with licence dodgers?
  2. Well, the old guy expressed a preference to fish 'fast flowing' water, so I took him down to Gunthorpe weir on the Trent, about 4 miles from home. What a fantastic afternoon we had! Only caught a few gudgeon and chubettes, but, as was said on this forum, theres far more to fishing than just catching fish! Incredible to think that this guy last went fishing before I was born, (and Im 42!!!) He soon figured out the 'new fangled' fixed spool reel and was staggered by how light carbon fibre was. We shall be going again! Thanks everyone for the input.
  3. I am taking a 91 year old friend of the family fishing on Sunday, on what could possibly be his last ever trip.He is nearly blind, so he will have to touch ledger, I think.I was planning on taking him to the Trent (we live in Nottingham), but it would be really great if he was in with a chance of a few fish. Any ideas lads? Must have easy access, willing to travel a few miles if neccesary.
  4. Interested about the Tilapia Newt. How did they get there? An african fish, if Im not mistaken? Stocked by the DNR? I would have thought they would be a prime competitor to a bass? Very surprised that you have them.. I thought these days there was a policy to avoid stocking with 'non natives' Wonder what the reasoning for stocking them is.
  5. Afternoon all Im looking for a new water to try in a couple of weeks time. Day ticket, within say 70 miles of Nottingham, able to bivvy up for a couple of nights. I know its not the time to be trying new waters, but I really fancy a change from my usual venue, and having heard all the comments about A1(which was my next choice), Im looking elsewhere. Doesnt have to be a 'bobbins' water, although obviously chance of a fish would be nice... Any suggestions?
  6. Wonderful write up Newt! Sounds like you had a riot! Could do with a ho9t water outfall around these parts right now...its bloody freezing! ) When/where do you think you will get to try the pole?, im sure you will find that a good laugh.
  7. Morning all, Does anyone have any info on the fishing opportunities in the Aude region of France, specifically around Olonzac? The 'Canal du Midi' is very close by, and from what i have dug up on the web , looks an interesting bit of water, also Lac du Salagou is in the same region I think.
  8. Greetings! Does anyone have any info on fishing in the Aude region of France? The area around Olonzac in particular? The 'Canal Du Midi' looks interesting... I believe Salagou isnt a milion miles away either. Anything else? Many Thanks
  9. Yes Newt Cheapness was the aim! Garden pond was the ambition Nick, nothing too massive. I think Ill dig a small hole and experiment, and see how that goes. Thankis for the input, both of you.
  10. Hi... Does anyone have any experience of this sort of pond lining? Im contemplating a pond next year...and live on solid clay, so am thinking I can save myself a fortune by 'puddling' it. Only I havnt the faintest idea how to go about it, or how durable it would be. Any clues or pointers? Thanks.
