Janice Long, best known as a presenter on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and Top of the Pops, has died aged 66 after a short illness at home on Christmas Day with her family, her agent has confirmed.

Former Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder Ray Kennedy has died at the age of 70. Kennedy, who scored three times in 17 appearances for England, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1984. He scored 71 goals in 212 games for Arsenal, winning the First Division and FA Cup Double in 1971, before joining Liverpool in 1974. During an eight-year spell at Anfield, where he scored 72 goals in 393 appearances, Kennedy won five league titles and three European Cups.

Sir Frank Williams, founder and former team principal of the Williams Racing Formula 1 team, has died aged 79. He built the team named after him into one of the most successful in the sport.

Moody Blues frontman Justin Hayward has paid tribute to bandmate Graeme Edge, who has died at the age of 80. He was the drummer in the Birmingham-based rock band, famous for such hits as Nights In White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon.

Former England and Wolves midfielder Ron Flowers has died at the age of 87. Flowers was a non-playing member of the England squad which won the 1966 World Cup and was awarded a winners' medal in 2009. He earned 49 caps for England and made 515 appearances for Wolves between 1952 and 1967. Flowers helped the Midlands club to three First Division titles and also won the 1960 FA Cup during his 15 years at Molineux.
