  1. Janice Long, best known as a presenter on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and Top of the Pops, has died aged 66 after a short illness at home on Christmas Day with her family, her agent has confirmed.
  2. Former England and Yorkshire captain Ray Illingworth has died, aged 89. The all-rounder, who led England to an away Test series victory over Australia in 1970-71, had been undergoing radiotherapy for esophageal cancer.
  3. Richard Rogers: Millennium Dome architect dies aged 88. Baron Rogers of Riverside, helped design some of the most remarkable buildings of the past 50 years, including the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the Lloyd's building in London and the Millennium Dome at Greenwich.
  4. Cornish comedian Jethro has died at the age of 73. A statement on his Facebook page said he died on Tuesday after contracting Covid-19.
  5. Steve Bronski, co-founder and keyboard player in 1980s pop group Bronski Beat, has died at the age of 61. Bronski, from Glasgow, was born Steve Forrest and formed the group in 1983 with singer Jimmy Somerville and fellow-musician Larry Steinbachek.
  6. Rock musician John Miles has died at the age of 72, his family have confirmed. Born in Jarrow, north east England, he was best known for the epic ballad Music, which reached number three in the UK charts in 1976. Also the main vocalist on Alan Parsons albums
  7. Former Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder Ray Kennedy has died at the age of 70. Kennedy, who scored three times in 17 appearances for England, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1984. He scored 71 goals in 212 games for Arsenal, winning the First Division and FA Cup Double in 1971, before joining Liverpool in 1974. During an eight-year spell at Anfield, where he scored 72 goals in 393 appearances, Kennedy won five league titles and three European Cups.
  8. Sir Frank Williams, founder and former team principal of the Williams Racing Formula 1 team, has died aged 79. He built the team named after him into one of the most successful in the sport.
  9. Legendary US composer and songwriter Stephen Sondheim has died aged 91.

  12. Moody Blues frontman Justin Hayward has paid tribute to bandmate Graeme Edge, who has died at the age of 80. He was the drummer in the Birmingham-based rock band, famous for such hits as Nights In White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon.
  13. Former England and Wolves midfielder Ron Flowers has died at the age of 87. Flowers was a non-playing member of the England squad which won the 1966 World Cup and was awarded a winners' medal in 2009. He earned 49 caps for England and made 515 appearances for Wolves between 1952 and 1967. Flowers helped the Midlands club to three First Division titles and also won the 1960 FA Cup during his 15 years at Molineux.
