  1. Sadly havn't got any but seen the Prodigy, agree with Woodzzz they look the dogs danglies. I would expect from Greys that they would perform as good as they look.
  2. Yeh Rich, I also found that to be the case while fishing Paignton harbour in Devon.
  3. Though I do believe he was using 15lb at the time.
  4. I'm cheap! so I use Daiwa Sensor 12lb. If it's good enough for a certain Mr. Jackson and the British record, it's more than good enough for little'ol me.
  5. I was on the island a few weeks ago and was told by the staff in Scotties (?) that lots of bass were showing in the Medina (?).
  6. Thanks for that Newt, REALLY appreciate it! Gonna take a 200w search light and a car battery next time I go night fishing. Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous as carpers moaning about the light emitted from lighting a cigarette. What are the property prices like in your neck of the woods.
  7. Well it would seem I am being chastised (again) for replying to a post and sharing my thoughts. I have never had a complaint from anyone when using my Coleman, probably as there is nobody apart from my brother-in-law within a mile of me fishing. Of course anyone with an ounce of common sense would not fish with the lamp on full power on a packed water anyway! In my experience a light source doesn't put the fish off anyway. You just have to look at the canals, where you have lights from boats, streetlights and from a personal point of view, a very well lit canal side country pub carpark. You can and will catch carp from these areas, I know! The carp brigade in this country can be well OTT sometimes.
  8. Hope all goes well for ya little 'un.
  9. barbelbillo My quote "turns night into day on full power" was an example of how bright the lamp is. The purpose of night fishing is to benefit from the productive "dusk 'til dawn" period,it is also quieter with no boat traffic. [ 23. July 2003, 01:11 AM: Message edited by: aanthony ]
  10. My fishing partner often float fishes at night with a torch beam focused directly on to his float. I have seen him catch plenty of carp and other species with this method. He swears that a patch of light on the water can sometimes act as an extra attractor to curious patroling carp.
  11. I use a Coleman Northstar for night fishing, turns night into day on full power. I turn it right down when fishing but turn it up when baiting up, rig tying and for lighting up a feature prior to casting. It runs on unleaded petrol and a fill will last 8hrs on full power so very ecconomical. If you go for one of these be sure to shop around for the best price as they can vary from £99 to what I paid £59. I'd also echo the comments above about not setting it up in a bivvy, not worth the risk. p.s. it's great for spotting them horrible slugs before they get to close.....YUK!
  12. Curiosity once lured me into trying jellied eels, never again. JESUS!
  13. I've got a stack of 'em but do you realise the cost of shipping? You'd be looking at about £40 to send 20 mags.
  14. Chip Who said there was anything wrong with scooters? I bought myself a Speedfight 50cc the other week, i'm 32 and i'm loving it.....what a blast!
  15. Hey hey! Chesters1 your a scoota boi.
  16. Just out of interest. Is there fish around our shoreline that shouldn't be eaten?
  17. My deepest condolancies Julian.
  18. I've just noticed that Mullarkeys Direct are flogging the Maver Grim Reaper 13m for £150. Looks a bargain.
  19. Fantastic. Was there a follow up letter?
  20. Heard a story once about some geeza who went in for the snip. When he came around he was greeted by an apologetic surgeon. Unfortunatly a mix up had occured and the surgeon had performed a full sex change op and removed the lot. Through wailing and tears the geeza remarked how he would never again get an erection, the surgeon quickly quipped..........of course you will, it just won't be yours.
  21. Come on Chris, down to me knuckles soon! Must have got through 200 fags today, the suspence is killing me.
  22. I've heard that whiting are tasty when grilled with a knob of butter. There are the various "flatties" that you didn't mention.
  23. For anyone wishing to be bigger....it has it's drawbacks you know. In the winter I have to tuck the end into my sock otherwise it gets pretty chilly!
