  1. COD smashing The Times crossword.
  2. And you actually "Edited" that?
  3. Coming from you that is pure gold. I'm guessing Ken went to school, whereas I think your mum must have kept you locked in the cupboard under the stairs, far far away from any school.
  4. I'm thinking Forest Gump was the intelligent one in the family.
  5. Has anyone ever in the history of the human race ever made themselves look so unbelievably thick and stupid.....and continues to do so day after day, month after month, year after year? I find it hilarious that he continually calls those that prove him wrong and those that voted to leave the EU idiots, yet my 8yr old grandson can spell, punctuate and put a sentence together so much better. Poor fella, the cod he fillets have more brain power.
  6. BC, So are you trying to say that the global spike in inflation, global high prices for gas and oil and general global increase in the cost of living is all down to the UK leaving the EU? Or are you insisting that high prices and inflation here in the UK are purely down to Brexit, and the rest of the world is seeing high prices and inflation due to global events such as the knock-on effects of Covid and the Russian invasion of Ukraine? And may I ask, what political party were in power during your school days, and who on earth was the Secretary of State for Education?
  7. Do you think BC was the Creative Director?
  8. That is beyond comprehension, mind boggling even by your standards.
  9. Yes I've read the exact same thing Ken. Infact I've read many many different views and opinions, but still non the wiser. The manual for my Onkyo receiver doesn't help either. I may have to keep my eye out for a good 2nd hand deal for a speaker package on ebay. But thanks anyway, I know you must have looked in to it.
  10. I'm a bit of an audiophile and love my music which I play through a fabulous Denon system paired with a couple of KEF Coda 7 speakers (if you can find a pair for a reasonable price grab them, amazing sound!). But i've always been left cold by the sound quality of my TV when playing music videos on it via youtube, which is an inherent failing of modern flat panel TV's with no room for decent speakers. I didn't really want to go down the route of a full surround sound 5.1/7.1 system with front and rear speakers, centre speaker and subwoofer due to space, cost and wires everywhere. I have bought a 2nd hand Onkyo 5.1 receiver which is able to play 2.1 stereo sound via it's settings through a pair of old Eltax Hi-Fi speakers that I had which i've placed either side of my TV. It has improved the sound greatly, although i'm wanting more. My question is - can I connect a 2nd pair of speakers and have 4.1 stereo, if you get what I mean? From my understanding, which may be incorrect, I don't need a centre speaker because the two Eltax either side of my TV are coping perfectly fine with dialogue. And I don't need a powered subwoofer as i'm using Hi-Fi speakers that can handle the need for Bass. So would another pair of front facing Hi-Fi speakers in the corners of my room compliment the two I have either side of my TV, and would it even work as i'd have the settings on my receiver set on 5.1? I know that's a bit of a ramble and may not make any sense, but i'm reading conflicting opinions when I google about it.
  11. Come on Ken give the poor soul a break. He can't write a sentence never mind read one.
  12. Comedy gold! You couldn't make it up.
  13. BIG COD - Basic Intellect Gone, Created Own Delusion
  14. Genuinely sad news. A top fella who will be missed. We swapped a few parcels across the Atlantic over the last few years. From what he told me during many private messages, he worked in the tobacco industry for many years, and he was a fountain of knowledge on the various types and curing processes. He actually called up an old contact he had at the Missouri Meerschaum Company and got them to send me a few samples of their tobaccos, a genuine Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipe and a few freebies. I guess we all feared that he'd passed away, but it doesn't make it any less sad. Rest in peace Bill old fella, it truely was a pleasure to know you., and i'll treasure the pipe. Love to your family.
  15. I wonder how many of the rich and famous, who like to preach to the general populus in publications such as The Guardian, will be taking in Ukrainian families in their mansions?
  16. Shane Warne: Australia cricket legend dies aged 52
  17. It doesn't matter what side of the fence you sit on, the way things are escalating we'll all end up dead. Putin has lead himself down a blind alley, and I can't see a peaceful way out of it.
  18. https://www.baofengradio.co.uk/baofeng-uv-5rt-8w-vhf-uhf-dual-band-walkie-talkie-two-way-fm-radio-programming-cable/ Went for one of these in the end. Yes it's Chinese but there seems to be many fans of the Baofengs on HAM Radio websites and youtube.
  19. No I haven't thought about an app, but worth looking into. Ta.
  20. Would you say that UNIDEN BEARCAT EZI-33XLT one in the link would be ok for tuning in to air traffic and "normal" radio like BBC Radio 5 on mw? As I say, I haven't the slightest clue about such things.
  21. Geez' that's expensive! I did notice this https://www.radioworld.co.uk/uniden-handheld-scanner/uniden-bearcat-ezi-33xlt-plus-handheld-scanner on there, and it's cheaper than the same one I saw on ebay.
