I've used czech nymph technique and have caught 3 Dace, 1 Chubb & bizarrly an eel, although I was fishing for Brown Trout a the time. This was on the river Coquet, Northumberland. Best of British to you, but perhaps you'd be better off with, maggotts, sweetcorn, swimfeeders, 4 rods and a bivvy. Pablo

Greenwells sould always be tied using waxed tread as we know Gentlemen. My preference has always been cobweb thread waxed as you rightly say with cobblers. But you've now lead me into football (Yes, this is a flyforum). Leeds, Arsenal one is a team with power. (not Leeds) I'm a Toon fan but what's that got to do with fly fishing? Apart from the Tyne being the best Salmon river in the country? Pablo

Tinca, I did ok when I used it at Fontburn Reservoir in Northumberland late last season (Fontburn is a multi bait fishery), but so did my mate,who wasn't using it. Both taking 4 fish to a total 14lb ish, mainly on bibio, shipmans & CDC's. So our results where inconclusive to say the least. My results for salmon mean nothing, as I caught nothing when I've used it.

Hello fellow anglers, I'm new to this forum and would like your opinions please on the above. Now, BEFORE some of us get all high and mighty with, 'This is a fly forum not bait' attitude, let me explain - I came across Ultrabite in my local tackle store here in Newcastle upon Tyne a few months ago and bought some. For those who don't know it's a liquid that you apply to your flies. It was developed by scientists to increase the feeding signals in game fish being reared in cages, therefore reducing wastage of pellets and subsequent disease. Now, I've tried it for both salmon & trout with varied sucess (after checking with the owner/bailiff beforehand). My questions is, has anyone else used it, do you think it works and how would you know? I look forward to your comments gentlemen. But please lets keep an open mind. Pablo
