  1. last summer i caught a carp on a surface plug meant for pike

    peeler crabs

    im from scarborough
  3. whats the best baitdealer to order crabs mail order from. i want to buy 100 and woundered what sort of prices and postage i would be paying.
  4. im my opinion anything over 13ft gets a bit hard to handle. the best distances come from a rod your comfortable with, powerful enough to fully compress it and a properly tuned reel.
  5. someone must have some opinions on whats a good clean/mixed ground rod?
  6. does anyone know anything about mustads new viking power 126 rod. ive read good things about them but wanted to know what its action was like for long range casting. im after a new rod for around 100 squid which is easy to compress and not too stiff as im moving away from the normal heavy rock and kelp i usually fish and want a rod to fish clean to mixed ground. any opinions?
  7. i always use a comprimise between the two. bury the hook link in the ball but leave the pop-up so it sits on top of it. its then the ovious first choice for any carp attacking the method ball.
  8. i dont agree that badger tackle is a waist of time.ive just bought their new quad pod and am very impressed with it, im my eyes its as good if not better than fox's x-pod. and for 50 squid you carnt say fairer than that. whats the point of paying an extra 50 to get a fox logo stuck on it. badger gear is not for the tackle tarts out there, but for carpers on a budget it takes some beating.
  9. im looking for a new challenge this summer but am having difficulty finding new waters to fish in my area. ive been fishing the same two lakes for 4 seasons. does anyone know of any lakes in north yorkshire that allow night fishing. cheers

    anglesey

im off to anglesey for a weekend in april, can anyone give me any help on what baits and what species are going to be about.im from the north east of england so use big crab baits for cod most of the time, will this technique still work in anglesey. cheers
  12. one of my local carp lakes has gone under new ownership and the rules have changed, meaning there is now no ban on boilies. will the carp in the lake respond to boilies straight away or will they need time to get used to feeding on them first,im show they wont have seen many boilies before.
  13. my local big carp names: piles, big scaley, the dog, bernard, flat face, and last but not least dave the mirror( my favirote name)

    Worms

try injecting a big lobworm with air so that it floats and hook it once through the body.the weight of the worm meens you can freeline it very easyily, flick it out under some overhanging trees or lilly pads and slowly draw it back across the surface. the air in the worm seems to make it flick about like crazy and carp go mental for them. its a very good summer technique thats accounted for many big carp over the years for me. beware though because its not only carp that inhale these baits, ive taken chub, trout, perch and even the odd pike.(good luck)
  15. i once caught an 18lb mirror on the broads while dead baiting for pike. it took a 3inch sprat tight up against a reed bed. not much use to you i know but i thought you might find it interesting.
