How do you get a reasonably accurate reading of a river bed when there is current pulling your float down river ? I have trouble with reading a river here in Canada. I want to target walleye(Zander) in a river. They will sit in the tiniest of "dips" in the river bed to avoid current and so I wanted to get a good reading of my local swim. Thanks In Advance For All The Good Advice You All Will Give Me. ;)

It might be a good idea to ask for advice at the local council police on what they recommend on avoiding a conflict or protecting yourself. Mace spray? Baton? some sort of alarm-Air horn ? A 9mil? If it's a regular problem then maybe the web sites and magazines and fishery owners, tackle/bait companies and the anglers themselves should put pressure on the Gov to do something about it.

Ha Ha! Actually, I did impale a frog on a hook a few seasons ago for the first time ever . If I looked at the frog I would get a guilty feeling but when I would think of the size of the pike that swam in that water and that i knew one wouldn't hesitate to gulp down that frog, I got exited. It's now banned, it's not banned for ethical reasons but it's because leopard frogs are on the decline along with the rest of the world's frog population.

I think you all need to go outside and get some Frkin' freah air and catch some fish.

"Live-baiting is cruel and barbaric" I suspect this has already been said but how is it not ok to hook bait but it's ok to pull in a hooked fish that is fighting for fear of it's life for your enjoyment. I respect your opinion as you have a right to an opinion but maybe the way you worded it and the fact that it is a contradiction, will only result in answers like mine. Catch and release angling is a cruel sport. Fishing for food is less cruel as it has the intention of food for survival, the same rule applies for the fish you are catching, they kill for food. I am a fisher for food but when I am a catch and release angler (which is most of the time) I am cruel and barbaric,just like you. End of story.

One of my favourites was "knockout Ginger" No we didn't beat up a ginger kid, well actually there was one but that's not it. We would knock on some ones door and hide. Whoever got the most **** off was the one we would do it to continuously and get chased .Hedge hopping, running through a whole street of back gardens no matter who was there including dogs. Once I jumped a fence and a dog came after me so I got over the next fence and landed in some manure. Also getting on our dirt bikes in the back fields until the local nosey neighbour would call the parkies (park police) and they would chase us on their dirt bikes because we weren't allowed to ride there, which made us ride there more. The chase was awesome till you got caught and they would threaten to take our bikes, I think they liked us though really

Mate, I have feared rats for as long as I can remember. Don't know why but thier ropey tails and long teeth and the eyes and the germs and diseases they carry just freaks me out. I'm shivering as I write this. My Sister's ex told me, after reading Herberts' "The Rats", said they can climb up the drain pipe and enter the house through the toilet. I used to shudder at the thought of me sitting on the can when one comes up. I also hate that Rambo scene where those rats are climbing all over him. Uhhh,shiver at the thought. Use a rubber band and put your hook and line through it and then attatch the band to the mouse with the hook at the back of the mouse but not in the mouse. Cast the mouse out and let it swim for some top water action.
