  1. if feeder fishing take some extra clip on weights so you can add more weight to your feeder if fishing in a river with a heavy flow. Allways use the lightest feeder you can (sure a 2oz feeder will go a long way but hits the water like a brick). When you cast out use a marker point on the oppersite bank so you hit the same spot each time and let the feeder fall to the bottom naturaly then after about 10 mins just take half a wind on your reel to put your hook bait over the loose feed from the feeder.
  2. it is illegal, on the back of your license t states:- your licence must be PRODUCED on DEMAND to a water bailiff of the agency who produces his or her warrant etc etc you all know what it says, Any way why risk it when the licence only costs £22 and the money goes to the rivers etc, or would you prefer the fine that goes to the goverment, i know what 1 i would prefer, i went on saturday and for the first time i had my licence checked in 5 years. The EA are out in force down here in kent and good to, im getting rather annoyed at those who dont purchase a licence (asylum seekers etc)
  3. mines boring really my dad used to take me fishing when i was a nipper as it was the only time we could get some quailty time together, we used to go to deal pier all the time then after that i really got into the whole fishing thing and have taken up freshwater fishing sea fishing and i used to work on the tralwers, afraid to say fishing is in my blood and has been since the first time i went nearly 19 years ago
  4. if theres cracking tench in there why spoil the natural balance which is so easy to do. Id leave the pike and that alone just go there have a fish and enjoy the cracking fish that come from it. Let nature do its thing as it has been for 2000 years now and on most waters (like rivers) done no harm it us humans that do all the harm
  5. well having lived in norfolk i would say there for many reasons first being so relaxing and slow speed of life, many differant situations to test all your angling ablitys warmer than scotland, and keeps you in the good books with the wife . mind you the price they charge for the boats these days you could go abroad for the week and get a nice suntan as well
  6. im just making my first batch of homemade ground bait with ground pellet bread crum mollases hemp etc and i am going to test it out at weekend, i was just wondering on if any one here has made there own and if they have what did you use and was it sucssefull
  7. the way i would do it is to cut the elastic from the top of the pole, to remove the unwanted tension then try useing hot water to soften the plastic which will aid the bung on moving, the way i got my one out when it got stuck about 18inches into the section was by useing a bent out wire coat hanger and hooking around one of the flanges on the bung. it took ages but i did not damage the pole at all.
  8. quote: an advert featuring a car going over a cliff was filmed there ,parts of the car still exist for the adventurous That occurs every night now. There is some good bass fishing from the aprons down there. The best way down is if you carry on around the corner where the camp site is theres a big field on the right at the end of there follow the gravel track and head down the hill. The person who say was killed down there was a very good friend of mine and a fellow fisherman, theres been no verication of a death but its more than likely now. Theres still no news or body. The chalk fall has blocked most paths down now but if you are feeling fit its well worth a cast down there esp up the north end where us locals call "the black wall" you cant miss it just look towards dover and its the last thing you see a good 3 mile walk. One word of advice if you do go down there leave nothing in your car or it wont be there on your return its a well known crime spot. If you need any more info on the warren give us a shout as i can see that out of my front room window
  9. yeap that pond is now a dry hole nothing survived and the clifes began to slide into the pond its now a no go area. The only other place is radnor park pond £3 day ticket if you can put up with lots of people walking around you and lots and lots of children throwing the old brick, bike etc into your swim its worth a cast, pellet and cheese paste works well for the carp and tench in there (biggest carp is around the 14lb mark and tench around 5lb mark)
  10. thats very kind of you dunk i certainly would but i will have to arrange a date as im just about to start a new job so i dont know my shifts and that yet.
  11. ok the best thing i can think of at the moment is to email this lot and find out if they can donate a venue for your cause for the afternoon. info@rmcangling.co.uk tenchgirl@yahoo.co.uk enquiries@tagf.co.uk and vist here for more info. http://www.allaboutgiving.org/community/uk...ember&Year=2002 ill ask a few people i know for some advice for you, other than that just dont give up, try whatever means you can think off, persuasion, free advertising, bribery whatever you think will work
  12. thanks guys, i fish the military quite often (down there next week) and the stour (esp near canterbury behind the marlow theatre).I ve tried the rother but not to keen on it as i prefer the river bread and the river tillingham both 5 mins walk from the rother, Im going to check out maidstone tho, ill let you all know how i get on
  13. heres the website about SANDS SANDS you could try asking them for support and advice on holding a event for them. You dont say where you are from but if you are in kent try sending a email to alan yates (writter for sea angler etc) on alankyates@aol.com hes a good friend of mine and ready to back charity events, another idea is to contact fishing magazines for advice and freebies (prizes etc also their contacts are worth their weight in gold. If by chance you are in the south east send me a PM as i might be able to sort out a small venue as well for you
  14. as well as a current license which are available as weekley etc. Barbless hooks are a good idea as well as many fisheries wont allow to you to use them (good shout if i may say so my self) many lakes etc have tackle hire on site.
  15. the roach and perch in the river Tillingham in Rye east sussex are covered by black spot, it dont effect them tho, just last summer i had a net full of them most over the 1lb and half and my biggest perch at just under 3lb
  16. hi all new here, Im looking for some info on fishing in the south east kent area, im mainly into canals, lakes and rivers (not into the big carp scene) and ive tried most places around the Folkestone Dover deal areas and was hoping for some info on more places. Im a experianced angler so "hard waters" are not a problem for me but the locations must be quiet easy to reach on public transport. cheers All Rick ps if you need advice on sea fishing or coarse fishing in the areas ive been to give us a shout as i been fishing in the same area for about 5 years now
