The governmentS have brought this on themselves - can you remember a tax that was called "ROAD TAX"? Now that they snaffled that - they haven't got enough money to fix our, frankly appalling, roads! Why don't they start again and give motorists a square deal, or as square as any govenment would give. Don't forget, they have the cyclists and disability power chairs and scooters to pick on!

IMHO I would rather they had some sort of MOT as what is likely to happen is that if they are involved in an accident, they will have a fight on their hands, as suspicion will fall on the "unchecked" car.

Snakey, that little piece of information sounds like it could have come from a manial. However the risk of wearing rings while working in a hospital IMHO are as great as wearing a crucifix. I am sure that you have or know someone that has caught their wedding ring on something, causing great pain and, sometimes, medical intervention. Please feel free to come back on the wearing of uniforms as that would have to be the main cause of any cross contamination or even the introduction of bacteria to the wards.

It's quite easy really - we are NOT a multicultural society! We are a society which (Since you mentioned it, like South Africa) will bend over backwards for the minority at the cost to the majority! Look at the Sikh that received damages for being asked to remove his turban (why DID he join the police force if he could not use riot gear), the schoolgirls that claimed damages because they were told not to wear the burka as they could not identify individuals when they are wearing it. Compare that with a nurse that was suspended for wearing a cross which was 3cmx2cm or the fact that the red CROSS won't celebrate Christmas for fear of "upsetting" the minority non christians (even though they replied in writing that they DIDN'T mind) Multicultural? I don't think so!!

The original idea of this thread was (as the title implies) to ask if it was time that the UK (a small Island) that was once very powerful with a lot of countries bearing allegence to it, must now, since it has given most of its countries back to the original inhabitants (a lot of Africa, India, sri lanka etc) "bite the bullet" and stop trying to be super power, allowing this country to regroup and try and put the great back into Britain!

Snakey, Read ALL the posts and you will see that by them all attacking the player, i have had to defend my stance even if it meant that the original aim was not met. If I say A they all rush to see if they can prove to me that it is B. I see stances made by posters on other threads suddenly change and adapt to argue on this thread.

If you were a regular poster that may be some excuse, but to come here and try and cause trouble is unbecoming of the facade you want people to see. Now to the others - You cannot see that this country has set itself up to be an example of a multicultural world. As long as it allows Blacks to form their own unions the men being ruled out of "fair" elections etc. then it is doomed to have a country with ghettos of the various races we have here. These racial enclaves could be avoided by forbidding any organisations to form a union which forbids the entry of any other race to that organisation. If there are complaints about racial minorities, females etc. being refused work then the employer just has to supply PROOF that the candidate selected was best suited to the job.

Sportsman and others - If I see something that is unfair, I will get upset about it. If I see a headline like that, I WILL react - but, of course I expect answers like this - "Is the BNP website your source for this one? That's the only place I could see that's claiming that overseas aid spending is seven times anything. They're claiming that it's seven times the NHS deficit though, not the NHS budget." No matter what is said, it would appear that there are people on this site that attack the player, not the ball. There are many unfair things that I see, like the BLACK policeman's union (would that be accepted if you substituted white for black? why mention race at all?) the fact that political parties are seriously thinking of making all female candidates for a constituency (why not the BEST candidate?) and a lot of other things. But it makes no difference, I will be called a bigot, even though I am only looking for FAIRNESS!

All right then, everything is tickety-boo, we will carry on giving money to Africa for another 15 years (one for you "experts" out there - disprove that!!) I have lived in Southern Africa (which you lot won't let me forget.) and I can tell you stories - which I won't - about what Africans do with foreign aid that is not money! They are quite happy to sit back and collect their dole errr aid money from this and other countries rather than doing some work. See if you can get some pictures of Swaziland, Lesotho (the poorest African nation), Botswana etc. and look at the potential for agriculture in those land. Farmers of 'developed' nations won't go there because they fear it will be just like Zimbabwe and they would be killed for their farms (which is ironic as those who have "taken over" the farms don't know how to run it!)

Me, I stick to five card draw poker and fishing games. I have a PS2, a Nintendo DS AND a Wii (present for my birthday) and struggle to find games that will stimulate my mind, although the brain train games are quite good.

Here's a question that will split posters into two camps. When is Britain going to look after its own and stop trying to still be a super power. We were a super power at one time but most of the commonwealth are now independent, and all we do is pump money at Africa at our expense. If anyone cared to check you would see that the government spending budget for Africa is 7 TIMES the budget for the NHS!! This country is like a swan - serene, powerful and beautiful above water, but paddling like h*ll underneath!
