  1. Often thought of using these for mainly Barbel, but the feedback is not promising as to suitability, was thinking might have some use when fishing close to snags on a short hook length, anyone used them?
  2. Honda 90? Fond memories of that little bike, what a cracking little machine? Got me to and from work in Southampton until some thieving so and so must have lifted it up into a van, not much more value than the tankful of petrol I just put in, but now quite sought after. I 'elevated' to a MZ 250 the oddest bike I ever owned...ugly as sin with drainpipe looking exhaust but did the job....and then a Kawasaki Z400 which accompanied me on a few fishing trips...sadly not been on a bike for years, but still hanker about doing so and then the Mrs reminds me of my age. Well done Ken for keeping it simple, way to go, I always take a minimum of gear, much more fun.
  3. As far as fishing is concerned the rivers have been in flood all winter so just hopeless, Hoping to get on the pond for something, itching to go somewhere.
  4. I had all of January ill in bed, never had anything quite so bad, flu with knobs on, worst still were the night terrors....the only thing that worked was a sleeping pill. Lost a stone in weight but sadly back on, but feeling better. If you have had a scan and the all clear don't know what else they can do, but it does sound like IBS but they would have checked that. Are you lacto intolerant? Could be you have developed a food allergy which won't show up, ask for a allergy test perhaps. I have had most of my bowel removed as a result of catching a water born bug from fishing the Severn in flood, nearly died....thing is keep on the the NHS don't be fobbed off.
  5. What happened to you grandson Martin, how was the trip to Crotia, how is his carp exploits getting on?...so much to catch up on .
  6. Turn the lights out Cod on your way out. No one left in the room.
  7. Missed bites with worm is always down to nipping the end and not engulfing the bait. Maggots for that reason would be a better bet.
  8. A John Wilson Medium Quiver rod 11.6 ? It's the original rod not Jarvis. I picked up as new for £25 recently, it has a spliced glass tip, extending almost the whole top section, very odd, it does look like its manufactured not a repair or similar. There is no horrible screw tip, tip just a nice progessive taper It does say on the blank 11..6, but its a bit shorter than that. Lines 3 to 7 lb. I have searched high and low and can't find anything on this rod, was wondering if anyone can help, It might be a prototype that never was manufactured being Tewkesbury the original home of these rods. Anyway it a lovely rod and should make a good addition.
  9. A few in Guernsey had Jerry under the bed I am told.
  10. There is a 3 part documentary on i player outlining the deceit oil companies used in hiding the facts regarding warming and fossil fuels. That started back in the 70s and still oil is used as the acceptable face of corruption and power. Exon invested in alternative energy, and the new head of company tore the whole thing up, because he was a dyed in the wool oil man. We need Government backed technology to bring change, but the dilemma is the likes of Saudi have a bottomless pit of money and influence to prevent or at least stall progress.
  11. Diesel powered power stations really? Can't see it, the only way to satisfy demand is good old nuclear..in fact the SNRs, small nuclear reactors are now being rolled out, cheaper than the old big reactors. Economy 7 ..I was in the Electrical supply business and this tariff was mainly for heating storage heaters, God help us if anything defined the 70s and 80s it was those useless things, cold when you needed them and hot when you didn't . 7p per kw hour as opposed to 10p trouble is folk don't understand what a unit of electricity, or more so a thermal unit of gas. And as for water who does? Back to fuel there has to be a cut in duty, but I fear for those who genuinely are going to suffer. Mind you as a kid I used to wake up on cold winter days with ice on the inside of my bedroom window, and we were as fit as butchers dogs!
