  11. TOTALLY agree  fish should not be treated in this way ,its just not on ,if you can't respect the fish you catch you should stop fishing. Commercial carp fisheries are the worst with hundreds of pounds of fish piled up for pics  ,how would the angler's???? concerned like it if they were at the bottom of a pile of 50 fat anglers Cheers Saul
  12. Hi Alan I use a Nikon D100 for work ,If you want to use your existing Nikon lenses you should go for this camera as the quality is spot on ( good enough for pro use ) ,Nikon are also doing a good deal at the mo offering things like a free 1GB micro drive or the battery pack/grip to go with the camera. Check out Nikons web site asap as the deal is not on for long. This camera has been used for 90% of my work these days with my Hasselblad hardly being used at all Think the D100 is around £1300 at the mo ,but well worth the money. Cheers Saul
  13. Thanks for the info Guys. The fish will be left totally unfished for as the pond's are for growing on only. I've not even seen the fish since they went in but I'm sure they are just getting on with eating and growing " I hope " ,they have plenty of weed to hide in so they should be safe from predators. Is it worth feeding them with trout pellets or simmilar ? Cheers saul
  14. How the feck do you submit a pic in the first place???????????????? Have logged on but can't suss out how to submit a pic ,or maybee I'm blind or just thick???? Cheers Saul
  15. Hi Bill The carp are Dinks X Leney's ,I also forgot to mention they are in Scotland so there will be a shorter growing season but the pond is exposed to full sun and is about 4ft deep on average. Also spring fed so it should be a little warmer in winter. 3lb would be very nice though will need to wait another year before they are cormorant proof and safe to move on to their new home. Thanks Saul
  16. What size should you expect young carp to be at the end of their second summer ? These fish have not been fed trout pellets etc and just rely on naturals ,the pond is very rich and full of tiny snails ! also there are no other fish in the pond and the stock level is low. Cheers Saul. [ 22. July 2003, 11:04 PM: Message edited by: Saul ]

  18. Interesting point ! I don't think it does matter that much ( holding them upside down for a short while ) as this happens alot whilst trying to hold a lively fish when they try and flap out of your hands ,as you often end up holding the fish to your chest whilst trying not to drop the fish !the fish usually ending up upside down. All this happens very quickly usually ,I don't know anyone who would hold a carp upside down for any lenght of time ? Cheers Saul
  19. Sorry I've got no idea of the size of the carp in the Forth & Clyde canal. Try a bit of pre baiting and give it a go, you never know there could be a Scottish record swimming around there somewhere ? I do know that the carp have been in there a long time ,also BW stocked some into doubles not to long ago. Happy Hunting Saul
