  1. quote: Just be carefull using cigarette filters, If they come off the hook they can swell up inside the fish then effectively suffocate itGood point ..... its never happened but needs some thought. Although the piece of filter is at full swell once wet before the fish gets it it is still worth trying to remedy. Mabye clear fly varnishing the filter on the hooks a few days before going out would help.
  2. Sliced cigarette filters look like bits of punched bread. A size 14 fly hook with the filter attatched will stay on the hook nice as you cast and any fish you can get feeding on bread you will catch this way.
  3. I use a drennen controller attatched to an american snap swivel. I tie the swivel to the main line and tie a rods lenth of leader to the bottom eye this gives you a straight bite indication to the main line. I cast to about 10 yards past the mullet and very slowly retrive till the bait is in place. Works very very well for surface feeders. Works for those under the surface to

    Steelheads??

Wow thnx for that Im gonna have to do my best to keep it a secret now as these must be the only wild steelheads in scotland. Well that ive heard of anyway.
  5. As gross as it may sound when the mullet are really picky i always have a couple of loaves that i let go really mouldy. I use the crust as bait and the rest for surface groundbaiting. Works well for me to.
  6. Wow been a few years since i was here last and just love the new look to the site. Anyhoo just wanted to say hi to Leon and gray...How you guys doing?

    Steelheads??

I fish a little burn near my home it is a tidal water. Afew years ago there was a massive flood and the local fish farm lost a lot of rainbow trout into this burn. The part of the burn i like to fish floods with the tide and every time the tide comes in so do these fish. Some are quite large 5-7 pounds but mostly they are 1-3 pounds. I think that a large number of the rainbows that escaped are living in the sea just of the burns mouth and they have become the equivilent of the seatrout. They are a stunning silver with a beutifull blue back. Could they be steelheads? Id post a pic but there is no attachments on here that i can see. I could email it if thats allowed.
  11. Looks like they formed their opinion and our posts were obviously putting up a good arguement. I wondered when i saw that the posts would be checked if it was worth bothering with.
  12. Yeah i think ill complain about the way they are blocking our replies on their talk forum. Just as a point of interest the bbc seem to be forgetting that it was them that first screened the show a passion for angling and some others too.
  13. Hi Bill I posted on there over 4 hours ago and my post is still not up. Did you wait long for your post to appear?
