  1. Sorry Sean but at my local tackle shop it is only £10 for a 5lb. box. So with your postage I would be losing. Sorry mate. Dave
  2. Have a look here, it may help a little. http://iowsolepage.blogspot.com/ Dave does catch his fair share of the things. Dave
  3. Just tried that Chesters, got it right for me. !!! ( 81 )
  4. Yes there are some big Ferox in Awe and also some monster Pike. Going around in a small boat a couple of years ago and disturbed a couple of big fish sunbathing on the surface. Don`t know if they were Pike or what, they were in deep water, not the shallows. Dave
  5. Give this a go, I can`t suss it out at all yet. http://www.milaadesign.com/wizardy.html Dave
  6. Sorry Colin, but it is something I would rather not have Dave
  7. One other thing to look out for apart from those maneating midges are the Ticks. If walking through any long grass or ferns to go fishing then it is well worth while tucking your jeans into your socks and checking at night for the little buggers. Only look like a pinhead at first but when full look more like a small Sloe. Hire a boat from Loch Awe boats and try the edges of the loch. Dave

  9. You never know John, he might be lucky.
  10. Welcome aboard mate. Never fished that area but fishing is great wherever you are. Dave
  11. Nothing wrong with the Pirate, I have used him as well for a few lines. You can find him here as well. http://www.flyforums.co.uk/forumdisplay.ph...&order=desc Dave
  12. Merry Christmas to one and all on the forums, and a great new year. Dave
  13. Glad to hear you had some success. Keep it up now. Dave
  14. I might be tempted with something like a Diawl Bach, Bloody Butcher or similar traditional wets for the Brownies. Rainbows I would go for a Gold Head Olive Damsel, G.H. Hares Ear or even a G.H. Daddy. Good luck. Dave
  15. Fos christ sakes. How long has your dog been running around in these dirty pants ??? I told you to change them at least twice a day.
  16. Fishing for me is a hobby I have enjoyed for more years than I care to remember. Sat on the bank of the river Wye on a summers morning watching the Kingfisher perched on the end of my rod praying I don`t get a bite, just so that it would stay there longer. Sat on some rocks chucking it down with rain praying for a bite so I could stay longer. Standing on the bank of some Tout fishery getting really annoyed with the monster that keeps swimming by and ignoring my fly. Catching a fish in most instances is a bonus, I get great peace of mind just being there. My wife says I have no patience and my only answer is, how can I sit watching nothing for 8 hours if I have no patience!! I defy any Angler/Fisherperson to cross a bridge without looking through the water to see what`s there. Angling/Fishing for me is a way of life. Dave
  17. Still no joy with the sound. Just have to find a VERY EASY sollution. Give me a roof to do any day, much easier for a meat head like me to get around. I shall persivere. Dave
  18. Cheers guys, don`t use Firefox so that`s not the problem. Just spent half an hour or more looking that link cory and I think it might need more time. Tried some of thier ideas but as yet no joy. Just keep trying I suppose. Dave
  19. Anyone know why I can`t get any sound on You Tube. This is the only site it happens on, everything else is fine. Dave
  20. Could have a look here, http://www.chalksprings.com/index.htm They do have tea and coffee but no food I am affraid. But Arundel is litterally just down the road for some great breakfast and lunch. Hope this is of some help. Tight lines Dave
  21. I was using them both as dead baits and live. Float fished and on the bottom, never tried free lining, should have now you mention it. Straight mono was the order of the day. Didn`t` contact any cudas, just as well I think. Dave
  22. You may be lucky on the boat, but it is just about on the cross over point between Tuna going out and the Marlin coming in I think. As for the shore fishing there is one mark I know of, go to Ribeira Brava, once there look for the road through the cliff, (left hand side looking out to sea) Go through there and walk along the sea wall. Some good fishing there off some flat platforms if I remeber rightly, into pretty deep water from the start. I saw some good Snapper pulled out of there. There are some good places to fish anywhere south of there, just pull in and have a go. As for the bait it couldn`t be better. Get into the market at Funchal, at a stall there get some Frangoo, I don`t know if the spelling is right but that`s how you say it. It is skinned chicken breast, Honest. Use that on a small hook to catch what look like small Mackerel, (4 to 8 inches long) then go for the bigger stuff with them. Have fun I did. By the way although you can see the big Barracuda in the marina there is no fishing in there but you can fish from the wall to the left of it, might be worth a go. Good luck. Dave
  23. Use your own kit and rod as you will enjoy the experience much more. The hired kit may be some huge old world penn reel and a broom handle. Here is the best set up and my suggestion: Lever drag multiplier reel such as TLD30 with 30 to 35lb main line - lever drag allows you to set it in a run position and have the clicker on. Long boat rod best and I use an Ugly stick Conger in the 20 to 30lb rating. Gilbo, I agree that this is a great way to go, but to go sharking for the first time and don`t really know if he is going to stick at it, is it worth spending out on a new set up if it is not going to get used again or only once or twice a year. I went for at least 2 years without even seeing a shark let alone catching one. Just my humble opinion that`s all. Dave
  24. If you are going sharking on a charter boat then all the tackle should be provided. Balloons/floats, traces and hooks all rigged ready to go by the skipper and or crew. It could get a tad expensive to buy the right gear to find out you only use it once/twice a year or two. Have fun, it can get a bit boring waiting for the first run. Dave
