  1. A few more for you Joel. Some of last years flowers, Just got a Flava in flower at the moment. The rest are coming though. That`s a cracking flower on your Cobra. Dave
  2. Try clicking on it Couldn`t resist it. Dave
  3. One of the windows in St Marys Church Cowes Isle of Wight. We were renovating the church last year and had scaffold eveywhere. Just as well as this window is about 40 feet up above the Altar. Didn`t use a flash and the surrounding stonework never came out, looks better for it I think. Dave
  4. Chris, I agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and most opinions are valid but, the issue I have is when Sam is such a conservationalist why state that he hopes a fish feels pain to be able to get a better fight from it. I do not wish pain on any animal jsut for a bigger/better thrill, my opinion. Dave
  5. I don`t really think we as a race have survived Sam because we enjoyed fishing. Back in the dark ages Sam man caught fish to eat not for the pleasure of fishing. As with all hunting back then, it was to survive, not for the sport. It is only now that we as rod and line anglers, I hope do it as a sport and for pleasure. Nothing wrong in taking a fish for the pot. I do myself. But not hoping the fish will feel pain so that it pulls harder for my then sick pleasure. Dave

    Marine Fish

It`s not the salt you have to replace Emz it`s the water after evaperation. The salt does not go anywhere just gets denser when the water level drops. There is a specific gravity you have to start at, this may differ slightly depending on the fishes area you are thinking of keeping but not enough I think to worry about. It was reccomended that if you were going to use natural sea water it should be collected quite a few miles off shore to avoid any pollutants in the water. Hopes this helps a little. Dave
  7. Sam I have not answered any of your posts, I do read some of them but the answer to this one in my eyes makes you sound like some kind of sadist. You say we are at the top of the chain and more intelligent than the others, true, it is because we are so intelligent and like the thrill of the hunt that there are some species almost extinct, the White Rhino, Tiger just for a couple. Back in the twenties these were being killed for the thrill of the hunt as you say. As for fish feeling pain, I love any type of fishing, I hope it is not the pain of the hook setting as you say that makes a fish pull harder but the fact that you are trying to pull it the way it does not want to go. If I thought there was that ammount of pain involved in fishing I would have to think about packing the game up. Surely no-one wants to think any animal is in pain just to get kicks out of their sport. Dave
  8. All the best. I am sure you will have a great time Dave
  9. Very very well put Steve. I take my hat off to you. Dave
  10. Hardly use them myself, usually stick to the one fly. I think the 3/4 turn water knot is right but have read somewhere I think that when the knot is tied put a half hitch with the tag end behind it. Should help to holt it at 90 to the leader. Hope this makes sense. I am sure someone else will be along in a minute to say I am wrong or a better way of doing it. Dave
  11. Great pics Jaybee. The one of the Gannet is brilliant. Dave
  12. Someone who is prepared to move if no fish show in the first half of the day. I am sure we have all had them, take your money get afloat throw the anchor over and sit there until it is time to go home, muttering throughout the day. "You should have been here yesterday/last week the fish were crawling up the line Dave
  13. Resent the P.M. to you Gus. Dave
  14. Tis true, I cannot find me. But I am still here I think. Dave
  15. Only going by my own exprerience for the floater I would go with the Snowbee XS Prestige. No or at very little memory, rides fairly high in the water and shoots well. Have to wait for someone else for the intermediate. Dave
  16. Very true Skye. Please stop shouting at me though and get rid of the caps. I do tend to stick to the people I know that supply good tried and tested flies, can`t blame anyone fpr that surely and as I said I wish you all the luck and hope you get plenty of orders. Is there anywhere we could go to check out the flies and prices? Dave
  17. Now that is quite sensible for you Ferret. Dave
  18. So do I John, but I know who I shall be asking for mine. Dave

  21. Anyone else tried/got any. He has sent me ten of them. Sandeel type fly. I am now the proud owner of two of each colour, red/blue/yellow/silver and green. If these flies don`t catch fish I think it will be time to pack up fishing they really do look the dogs nuts. Cheers Snatcher, once they get ripped to bits by the fish, and that shouldn`t be long. I shall have to get in touch for some new ones. Dave
  22. My feeling are with you is all I can really say. More than I can add has already been said. Dave
