  1. Never heard of that one. Nearest I could get to that is a Moray. Dave
  2. Welcome to the board Steve, I am sure you will enjoy it here. Can`t help with Avington I`m affraid but someone may do later. Dave
  3. Why not give snatcher a shout, I am sure he will have a few patterns for you to look at. Won`t cost you the earth neither knowing him. That`s if he`s not been in touch already. Dave
  4. Never heard of triploid browns but that is probably just me. I thought the triploid rainbows were, as already said from the heat treated eggs and were stocked into fisheries so that they spent no energy into forming eggs of thier own and thus staying in fairly good condition for most of the time. Just M.O. Never really noticed any difference between triploid rainbows and normal ones though. Then again I have not eaten wild brownies either. Dave
  5. This might help a bit. It is the online catalogue of Select a fly. http://www.selectafly-wales.co.uk/trolleyed/21/ Good luck Dave
  6. And does not reply to P.M.s either.
  7. No !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave
  8. Going for a Tarpon as well. Then again it could be the anchor Dave
  9. Nice shot Judy, I prefer the b/w as well. Strange how b/w seem to add that bit more atmosphere. Dave
  10. Took this from the bottom of the garden back in the summer, hell that seems a long time ago now. Dave
  11. Thanks for that Steve, now I am with you. Might have a go at it but don`t know what it will turn out like. Dave
  12. You lost me on that bugger Steve. The plant, a Bird of Paradise, Strelizia I think does grow straight and the stem is as thick as some good bamboo. Would you like to see a pic of the whole plant excluding the pot? Dave Had a bit of a tinker this afternoon and ended up with this. Bird of Paradise Dave
  13. What can you do to this one to try to improve it Finepix. Took it this moring in the conseratory, bought the plant in Madiera 4 years ago and this is the first flower. Only burst out this A.M so going to keep an eye on it and take some pics. as the days go by. Dave

    A flyer

Strange isn`t it, I always thought a flyer was mainly used in boat fishing. I understood it to be a smaller bait on a wire/french boom about 6/7 feet above the lead. This was to catch any passing smaller fish in case the main fishing wasn`t up to scratch, e.g at slack water. A slider on the other hand I use from the rocks in Cornwall from a high vantage point above the water, this I slide down the line after waiting and not getting any bites for say 15 mins. I usually have a small drilled bullit above the hook to aid the bait on its journey. Caught loads of Pollack this way, plus the usual mackerel. Just the way I use the Flyer and Slider, obviously different meaning to others. Dave
  16. Am I going mad, I thought I saw a thread of a similar name but can`t find it anywhere now. The first pic was of a pylon looking from a window. Help, was it on this site I saw these pics or elsewhere Dave
  17. Congratulations to you and the new Mrs. Goddard. Dave
  18. Have to agree with Dan, gone through the days of first the Tilley Lamp then an Anchor Lamp. Now it`s just a small head lamp for baiting and a starlight on the rod. Dave
  19. After a days fly fishing in Romsey I took this of Lymington Marina while waiting for the ferry home to the Isle of Wight. Dave
  20. Might sound daft but have you thought of getting your own cat. We have had up to 6 of them at one time. I have 2 ponds, one with Koi and one with Comets, Orfe and other general fish, our cats drink from the ponds and have not touched one fish. Might be a terratorial thing , They also keep any strange cats from the garden. Dave
  21. Now that`s why I go fishing on a light line, to be able to have some fun with the fish. O.K. if you are match fishing I suppose but again that`s why I have never fished a comp. Just can`t see the sense or fun watching fish die just to come 1st. 2nd. or even last and then mostly bin the fish. Just my opinion I know. Dave
  22. Sorry guys but I am with Stavey on this. What is the point of it all. Three hook flapper 5oz lead Coke bottle all for catching a Gar fish. I must be missing sometning here. Dave
  23. Got the flie this Morning as promised. Thanks very much MJB. Just looking forward to using them now and hopfully getting something good on them. Dave
  24. Hi poacher, my own choice would be a weight forward floating #8 (WFF8) and an intermediate or sinking #7. Hope I am right in my assumptions Dave
